Official Geoff Collins Fired Watch Party Thread

All I have to say is this. I was against Collins, from day one. I told people, year one, he was a loser. What did I hear? Wait 2 years, then 3....now 4..... Glad everyone else has caught up to what I knew 4 years ago. Next coach needs to be a man of action, not excuses and word salads. The "do" matters.

congratulations, you hated him before everyone else. You deserve a medal.

Oh yeah? I was against him before you probably even knew his name. I'm glad you finally caught on.

Fwiw, the booster I talk to who was pushing for him to be fired last year (and had offered up a large sum to make happen) told me earlier this week that it would be stupid to change course now, regardless of how much he'd disagreed with it last year, because we'd just be paying several million to save face for a few weeks. I tried convincing him that the reputation damage was worth the money, he told me that was easy for me to say when it wasn't my money and we laughed and changed subjects. I doubt this game changed his mind because the result was so predictable.
No. THIS result was not that predictable. If it was that predictable Vegas would have set the line at 30. Vegas got raped on this game and it shows in the lines movement. We have actually regressed. We got worse

How do you tell that they are that person?

It was apparent as soon as he said “biggest transition in the history of football.”
That was an immediate cop out excuse to tank for two whole seasons without even being criticized no matter how bad those two years would be.
Was it a bigger transition than most? A little. Not enough to matter in year two for a decent coach. I was not surprised by the 3 win per year ceiling that has resulted.
Oh yeah, I was right about Key also. I hate to do a victory lap right now but….it’s kinda warranted at this point.

It’s past midnight and Collins and Tstan are still employed. F this season it’s toast and probably sinking next year with it.

I do not want to hear that TStan and Collins care about Tech. They only care about how much money they can get from Tech. They both know it is in the best interest of GT that they resign. They both will stay to squeeze out the last dollar possible.

Bobby Cremins and Paul Johnson care about Tech. TStan and Collins only care about their bank accounts.

God bless Bobby Cremins.

If Georgia Tech wants to fire Geoff Collins prior to 2023, they will need to pay him 100% of his remaining contract salary: $10.5 million plus.

Collins’ original seven-year contract guarantees his full salary if he is relieved of his duties as head coach at any point during the first four years of his contract. The 2022 season is Collins’ fourth year at Georgia Tech. The buyout drops to $2.4 million for each remaining season, beginning in 2023.

His annual salary looks like this:

  • 2019: $3 million
  • 2020: $3.1 million
  • 2021: $3.2 million
  • 2022: $3.3 million
  • 2023: $3.4 million
  • 2024: $3.5
