Official Geoff Collins Fired Watch Party Thread

Money was there at the end of last season anyways, only thing stopping him being let go is pride to see this season wasted because they were convinced to see this season thru.

Punishment should be that Todd is fired tomorrow. Then we sit on Collins until the day after the buyout decreases. But I hope
We’ve agreed to a new coach in principle before then.

I’ll be even more pissed I’d we fire him before the buyout drops… if we were going to do that, it should have happened on November 3, 2021.

Let us remember that in addition to winning an Orange Bowl and beating UGA three times, CPJ has the class to resign when he knew the AD wanted a change. He gave us time to do interviews and saved us a chunk of $$$ on his buyout.

Geoff, who disparaged the CPJ Era from day one and says he loves us all, is going to drag this out and make thousands of people suffer so he can cash out.

They are night & day. And TStan was a king of fools to think this is what we needed when we had a Hall of Famer on staff.

I've been trying to think of a college head coach that is more inept than Collins. I can't think of one.
Who was that idiot Head Coach at FSU years ago, that decided he would be best served if he coached the Seminoles from
the Press Box instead of being on the sideline with his team??? His name escapes me at the moment, Darrell something, I believed
he only coached one year at FSU,

If Georgia Tech wants to fire Geoff Collins prior to 2023, they will need to pay him 100% of his remaining contract salary: $10.5 million plus.

Collins’ original seven-year contract guarantees his full salary if he is relieved of his duties as head coach at any point during the first four years of his contract. The 2022 season is Collins’ fourth year at Georgia Tech. The buyout drops to $2.4 million for each remaining season, beginning in 2023.

His annual salary looks like this:

  • 2019: $3 million
  • 2020: $3.1 million
  • 2021: $3.2 million
  • 2022: $3.3 million
  • 2023: $3.4 million
  • 2024: $3.5 million
  • 2025: $3.6 million

Vomit. This makes me want to vomit. We’re not even half way through. STANSBURY OUT

I will say, CPJ was getting pressure to retire, yes, but he had lost the fire to an extent and would've retired by now regardless.

If we're not going to fire him yet, can we at least mandate that he coach the remainder of his games in clown makeup and this t-shirt?

The main reason the fire clown shoes now is to get a head start on finding his replacement. If we're going to go with someone cheap or less desired (like monken) there's no reason to jump now. If we're hoping to pick off a cheap transition for a few years (like frost) we'd have to jump now.

I'm not caught up enough on the carousel to know what the right answer is. To a large degree, it depends on if the institute wants to stay the course with "we can do what everyone else is doing but with less money and better results" in the age of the NIL or if they want the "unconventional offense lets us get unconventional athletes" route.

This is just stupid. So 110 schools should try to be different and only 10 schools with deep pockets should play conventional fb. Got it. We’d not exactly be “unconventional” at that point.

Do you really think all 110 of those schools expect to be in the running for the conference every year? Do you think Vandy, Kentucky, Wake expect to even go bowling most years?

Perhaps instead of making wild conclusions you should ask for clarification when you don't understand.

Yes. Because it’s going to be us, Nebraska, and Auburn looking for coaches. We need to be ahead of the game on a hire because we won’t outspend.
