Official NYD Bowl Thread

Stupid rule that a winning team with the ball who gets a player injured stops the clock until the next snap. So now we know what to do if someone is running out the clock on us. Hurt someone. In tonight’s situation you should start a 25 second countdown when the injured player gets off the field.
A potential problem with that is a team faking injuries for free timeouts on top of running clock.

I agree with you that the current rule is problematic and should be changed.

A solution may be to allow a team to trade a timeout to run the clock after an injury. That way they can't fake injuries for free timeouts while simultaneously running down the clock. They are just doing something they otherwise could've done using their timeout.

I swear I thought the clock was supposed to start back after an injury timeout if it occurred during a running clock period. I thought I saw that happen in the Bama/Michigan game but can't remember when exactly. I saw someone go down, clock stopped, they got up and off fairly quickly though and the refs wound the clock again. Maybe if play stops for a certain amount of time, they do not start it back, but I don't understand why not. It should be a 25 second play clock with both game/play clock starting on the refs ready for play signal.

They’ll run it on the refs signal which is usually after the ball is set and such. But I don’t know that it has to be.

Unlikely?

Texas had the option and declined the runoff, which would have taken 10 seconds off and started the playclock at 25. I’d imagine the competition committee (or whatever it’s called) will take a look at it in the future. You don’t want players trying to pull injured players off the ground if they are seriously hurt. You also don’t want players taking injuries to gain an advantage

I still believe it should have been fsu in bama's spot. However, I think we ended up with 2 excellent semifinal games and the best 2 undefeated teams in the championship. Also ensures the dwags have no argument to try and angle for #1 in the AP since the National Champion is guaranteed to be undefeated.

The fact that the games were good doesn’t change the committee ööööing an undefeated power 5 champion.

FSU’s backup was certainly as capable as Milroe. I’m so glad that the committee decided that bama looks better getting off the bus and could win so that we got treated to a quarterback performance of 116 yards passing and 6(?) sacks.

Yeah, I definitely think if you gave Norvell a month with Rodemaker, he could have achieved that.
