Dontae should just try refusing to be tackled. Just don't go down.

I can’t recall if he returned kickoffs last year. He’s got that quick burst that returners need. Not sure about his hands though.
I think he did and it was obvious he was an asset in that phase of the game. He got positive yardage quicker than anyone that was put back there all year.

Will we use some of our RB's as slot receivers to get them more open field touches and to create match up problems? We are deeper at RB than WR.
We started to play with that a little last year.....seems we went to more 2 back sets later in the year, with Jahmyr running some routes out of the backfield. I don't recall that we had huge success with it. I think Dontae was used in this way as well. Dontae will hopefully get more work in this area; if he wants that NFL shot he's going to need to be able to be a threat catching the ball. That's the new hotness in NFL RBs, which is why Gibbs is set to be one of the best RB prospects in a generation. I think of Dontae almost like Alvin Kamara, invisible in college but could be a dynamite pro back if he's willing to work for it.

That is why I’ve been saying this season the focus is clearly on Collins and his staff. They can either coach a game or they can’t. Patenaude will either become a fan favorite this year or he should be sent packing. There isn’t much middle room for him. If he comes out with the same spread garbage we see every Friday night then he’ll be gone. If he actually uses his imagination to come up with plays where we get our best players on the field at the same time then we’ll be fine. Heck, he doesn’t even need an imagination, just steal what other high level coordinators run. Gibbs and Smith shouldn’t come off the field unless they need a blow. Mason should be in a lot as well. And Sims needs to be that X factor who when all else breaks down he just tucks and goes.

So we need 3 running backs and a running qb on the field every play? Hmmmm

No, we need our most dynamic players on the field. I know what you’re getting at but that guy didn’t fully use that system at GT. I want the defense keying on Gibbs and then sliding Smith to a slot opposite McGowan. And then Gibbs goes in motion and we have 5 wide or a two back set. I don’t want all 4 in such close proximity that 1 defensive end can stuff all of them. Spread our studs from sideline to sideline. But I have little faith it will happen. I think we’ll see the same as last year which is Gibbs or Mason getting the ball 8 yards behind the line and then having to juke someone just to get back to the LOS.

I didn’t realize Clayton was confirmed back until I saw his interview today, exciting to think about where we could be at DE this year
I think think we may be inching towards a time where we can be excited on defense on third downs and not clenching our anal cavities.

Football players having fun... 30% of Stingtalk just threw up in their mouths.
Everything in its time and place. Spring practice is a great time to work and have some fun. Celebrating success is part of learning.

Mouthing off and jumping around for making a tackle or breaking up a pass when down (or up for that matter) 3 touchdowns in a game - not so much.

I think Collins is using this as a way of taking the celebration off the field where it could cause a penalty. If that’s what he’s doing, it’s not a bad idea.
