My first time in the no column. He needs to clean out the coordinators.

I still believe Geoff can be an effective leader, but he needs to get better people around him, and TS needs to make it happen, because he ain’t going anywhere and we can’t afford to make a change the top. If the same coaching staff comes back next year, TS will be on the hot seat.

At this point I would treat the head coach and the coordinators as a package deal. Easier and saves money to fire them all in 2 years than sign new contracts and a head coach extension just to fire them in 3.

No idea how to fix it, but we have to start getting better.

At least so far we aren’t giving up as many historical losses in terms of score, but we’re still hemorrhaging on defense - allowing UVA their 6th most yards all time, allowing VPI to gain their season average in the first half (worse D than the cupcakes they played earlier).

We can’t keep revising our expectations down and moving the “real” start date forward indefinitely - this season is heading toward a wash. We need to get moving before I flip to a yes.

Need to buy him out.... Before last weeks games we found ourselves 3-4 with 3 games that will be crucial to the Collins regime. Two games are at home. The three opponents are a combined 10-11 overall and 2-7 in conference play. We lost last week, lose another and 4-8 simply cannot be sold as evidence we are headed in the right direction. The pressure on next season becomes immense. Lose all three and nine wins in three seasons will make for an intolerable offseason and most surely will affect recruiting.

I’m very down on Collins and have been for awhile, but there is still a path as a great recruiter and CEO. He seems to be at least somewhat better now at managing clock and situations, even if he does rely on a chart and doesn’t have good instincts for it in the moment. But I don’t know how the entire staff can stay intact after ‘21. The combo of coaches just isn’t working at all. Geoff seems like a guy that would fight for staff continuity and not be open to moving on from assistants. so that may have to be mandated by Stansbury, which he may not do either. 30k attendance at each game speaks volumes. People aren’t buying in to this at all, even some of the ones that were echoing Geoff’s talking points just a few weeks ago.

This is on the AD. He was duped by the sales pitch and now is suffering with an inferior product. We seriously lack in player development and in game day scheming and game day coaching decisions. Any hope to beat VT vanished when coach went for it on 4th down with over 8 minutes to go in the game. Another of many coaching mistakes that we see over and over. If the AD chooses to do nothing to correct this, in a year or two, the stadium will be empty and the revenue issues we hear so much about will worsen.

I really have gotten to the point where I don't think changing coordinators will help. I can't know for sure, but I suspect we aren't being effective with our practice time and film review. Too many bonehead moves that are repeated week to week and are even called out in press conferences as not coached. Whatever messaging we're getting to the team isn't being absorbed.

First time in the no column. I thought there was a chance to clean up UVA and show improvement vs VPI and maybe flirt with an upset at BC or Miami. The experience that was VPI @ BDS erased the last bit of charity and I am apathetic. Im not sure I could get excited if we won either of those two games. I’ll still show up to the remaining home games, I guess. But only because life is short and there’s beer.

Pending financials, which I understand aren’t great, CGC should be fired at the end of next season unless he makes a bowl. I really hoped he would work out as I think he genuinely loves the school but he is effectively just eating innings at this point and we’re all invited.

I get the year zero mentality and know that COVID was weird but if he can’t put something on the field that isnt at least routinely embarrassing by now, particularly on defense, one has to wonder if there is an amount of time he can be awarded to ever get there. His saving grace is an apparent knack for recruiting and I worry for the next regime trying to sell a bottom feeder program with years of futility under their belt, particularly a regime whose CEO is not as passionate about GT as Geoff demonstrates.

Don't see anything short of a miracle getting me to Yes this season.

Not the only item by any means, but I'm going to comment on not kicking the field goal against VT. After getting a TD and a nice run from Gibbs, to walk away there with no points is tantamount to punching yourself in the nuts. Bye, bye momentum, and you now force the suspect D to have to be perfect because a field goal on VT's next drive beats you.

It was another instance of amateur coaching hour. You want to do something aggressive, then kick the FG and then try the onside kick.

Had to switch to the No column this week. I don’t like the No column. It’s full of bad posters and darkness, but I do find myself over here this week. Can’t say I approve with the way the D has been playing and the losses we have taken.

How much money are you going to put in for the buyout?

I got to watch the vpi game last night. I had only listened on the radio. I pretty much only watched the offensive plays, so I won’t comment on the defense.

The OL played pretty well for about 3 quarters. There we’re running lanes and there was a pocket. I wouldn’t say they played great, but they looked like a middle of the pack ACC team. They faded as the game progressed, which I think is more of a depth problem than coaching.

Sims needs to consistently move up in the pocket. A lot of the hurries he had were due to dropping too deep. The only caveat is that when the center gets beat, there is no stepping up.

Our center had trouble with the DT all night, but wasn’t tossed around. One of Gibbs runs was a no gainer because he cut too close the the center and the DT was able to get an arm on him.

I liked the two back set. We should occasionally give it to Mason though, since he looked to be only a blocking back in the set.

I don’t like our route trees on third and long. The look like bamboo. They looked designed to take the safeties deep, but you don’t need three receivers to do that. We often didn’t have an intermediate layer, just WR deep and RB coming out of the backfield. Maybe the TE should be there but got caught up blocking. I don’t know.

I don’t have a problem with going for it there. You had some momentum, and if you can’t get 2 yards in that situation you don’t deserve the win. I think he may have been swayed by the crowd, which was roaring to go for it, and although our D played better in the second half, they certainly weren’t a lock to keep VPI off the board.

Overall, I like the idea and the “play to win” aggressiveness, but didn’t love the play call.

Not the first time he has been swayed by the crowd and the results have been the same. Even if we get the first down at the 10 or so, our red zone offense has been pathetic so no guarantee we score anyway. Take the field goal with 8 minutes left and even if they kick a field goal, which they did, you are still only one TD and XP from winning the game. As it was, once they kicked the FG, effectively, the game was over.

Probably impossible to get approve from me now.

Lose out - disapprove.
Win one more* - disapprove
Win two more* - meh
Win three more* - approve
Win out - irrational exuberance

* beating uga is an automatic approval because we are a cult that hates uga more than likes ourselves
