This could be the case of GTPD badge #39 being an a-hole ...then again it could just be a case of 3-9.

I'm not seeing the racial profiling. Or is any time there is a police/minority interaction now it's racial profiling?
 
Yeah.... Butthurt needs to be tabled. This is a public forum and the kid can see this. Don't rush to judge him until the facts are out.

I believe his actual decommitment was via Twitter. :rotfl:

As if the GTPD are the only people ever to be guilty of racial profiling.

Yeah....if that happened to me in the same way he tells it, I would take that as a big ol sign that I need to move on somewhere else.

2 sides to every story though. I would like to hear the cop side.

If the update is accurate:

1) Cop was a douchebag.
2) Still don't understand how he was racially profiled.
3) Threatening a random GTPD officer with decommitment and then citing the officer's apathy as a reason you're decommitting seems really, really stupid.
 
Yea, don't commit to a city like Atlanta, which is the most progressive city for blacks in the south, and probably the nation, because a cop said something to you and hurt your wittle peelings. Go to some shithole like Auburn and hang with the lily white frat boys and do their plantation work for them..

If those are really the facts, then they are the dumbest reason to decommit ever. I was expecting something much, much worse if he's making such a major life decision over it, especially since he probably could have gotten the cop fired or at least taken off of gameday duty.

Not sure how decommitting from Tech is going to make things better, and if he's expecting not to find idiot cops at whatever school he ends up going to, he'll probably be disappointed. Life is full of idiots, especially idiots with authority.

Well like, that was this kid's immediate reaction was threatening to decommit. In what universe could that possibly result in anything but "So ööööing what?" from what seems to be an asshole cop?
 
And as for a cop doing his job, everyone with a brain should have expected the police to be a bit more intrusive after the Paris attacks. Hell, the ööööing police helicopter circled the game almost the entire time. Is that the profiling?
 
I would suspect that 3-9 had at least something to do with the decision as well.

If I had to guess, here is what went down:
1. Mom sitting in restricted area with no lanyard. Cop is doing his job and moving a non-recruit/parent from that area.
2. Johnson and brother come back as cop is speaking with mom.
3. Johnson and brother show lanyards to cop with a side of bad attitude.
4. Cop responds with bad attitude.
5. Johnson threatens to decommit.
6. Cop says so ööööing what
7. Johnson goes to Twitter (surprise!) to allege racial profiling.

I'm not going that far. Telling a kid with the proper credentials that he probably faked his pass is a dickhead move and really pathetic. I just don't see how that's racial profiling and the kid's "Well then I won't go to school here" response is really dumb.

Still too much speculation in that. I'm just going based on the kid's own account of what happened and even if his version is 100% accurate:

1) I don't understand where racial profiling occurred.
2) Cop was a douchebag.
3) Threatening a douchebag cop with decommitting is really stupid.
4) Decommitting because of a brief exchange with a douchebag cop is really, really stupid.
