1956 Tech - Tenn Johnny Majors

Now that was a ball game. Take away one long run by Majors and it would have likely ended 0 - 0. Our only loss that year was to Tennessee 6 - 0. We beat UGA 35 - 0 to close out the regular season, our eighth in a row over the mutts. Dodd had compassion and cleared the bench against the puppies.

1957 sat in a continuous rain in what was then the south end zone in the old horseshoe. Saw Don Meredith come to town as sophomore and Tech fought SMU to a scoreless draw. I was 15 and a sophomore in high school in Chattanooga. Came down with a church group consisting of a bunch of alumni and high school guys. Of that group I was the only student that ended up at Tech three years later....probably because I was the only one that lived just across the stateline in Georgia. The rest went to Tennessee colleges.
Baylor Prep? We used to have a direct pipeline from that high school as far as football recruits went.

I think my first game was Auburn, 1969. I was dressed up as a cheerleader and probably was generally made a fool of (used a date pass from my sister (cheerleader). I almost got killed on an out of bounds play and from then on was relegated to the bench next to the fence.

I think I did the same for the Notre Dame game too.

Not my first game, but my first memory of one was the 1952 Orange Bowl against Baylor--Tech won 17-14 on a late Pepper Rodgers field goal. The last Tech game I attended was against Miami this past year in the Orange Bowl--Tech won 17-14 on a late field goal.

I think it was either the '86 ro '87 GT/UGA game at BBS. I was young, but I remember getting beer spilled on me(the days of beer sales). The most memorable that will always seem like my first is the '90 Citrus Bowl.

2003 Homecoming vs NC State was my first time seeing Tech play in person. :o

It was Reggie's freshman year and we beat Philip Rivers who was a senior.

1978 Tech - Notre Dame... Lower North stands, I remember the bottles bouncing off the astro turf , but dont remember the fish.

1976 I believe in a night game sitting in the South End Zone against Pittsburgh and Tony Dorsett. Touchdown Tony ran all over us, but I was hooked as a Jacketfan. I sold cokes at football and basketball games after that while I was in high school and I became a Tech fan (for better or worse) for life!

late 90's vs. UNC

joe hamilton to kelly cambell. (we missed a couple of extra points that day, our kicking was horrible)

My first season was 1n 1966. Hence my handle/hero. Can't remember the specific game, but remember the season. I tried to throw left handed likw Kim King and always had #21 like John Sias as my number throughout all sports.
I had a friend that past away just a few years ago. He went to the Rose Bowl in 1917. 4 years ago he claimed to be the oldest living alumnus, which I did not question. He said there were 2 fellows alive just older than him, but "I think those 2 bastards died!"
He gave me his 1917 GT belt buckle and his rat cap(I didn't think that tradition was that old). I gave them back to his son after he died which I thought was proper. I am told he will give them back to me someday. I would spend away games watching games with him. He always had great stories to tell. I wish i had recorded them.

Nominee for longest lurk with no post?

I wouldn't have told that even under torture.

Was that the one where Pepper was looking up straight at the goal posts when he kicked it?

1961 vs duke.

They featured the "lonesome end" that had been made famous at Army I believe.

duke's version was Jay Wilkinson, whose father won a few games coaching at Oklahoma.

Tech won of course.

First Tech game I ever attended was a game with Kentucky in the mid 50's. Blanton Collier was their coach. I was in the 7th or 8th grade. My friend's father was a Tech alum and had season tickets. We lived in Griffin, my friend and I took the Nancy Hanks train to Atlanta, then a shuttle bus from the terminal to Grant Field. God I loved just being there for the first time. Kind of sad, in this day and time would parents allow two 13 year olds to ride train, alone, to Atlanta? Ours did and so did a lot of parents, they did not have to worry about us being bothered or harmed. So sad !!!

I wouldn't have told that even under torture.

Mid left out the part about him being maybe 9 years old at the time. But he's never been too clear on explaining whether he was dressed as a male cheerleader or not.

My first game was the 1976 season opener against South Carolina. I just arrived in Atlanta for FASET and sat in the old south endzone horseshoe with my parents to watch Tech lose. The very next weekend I was sitting with the rats watching Tony Dorsett run all over us.

Thanks for the defense. Yes, I was dressed in white pants with gold sweater and white T, or was it gold pants with white sweater and gold T?
