Ole Miss Pre-game thread

You are correct, I went to the 1971 Peach bowl as a 14 year old and sat near the Ole Miss band and they must of played Dixie a hundred times because it seemed like they scored that many times. I’m 65 and when I was coming up in the 60’s and early 70’s and we heard that tune nobody thought about race, it was just a song that represented the South. Some how in the last 30 years or so some folks decided it was racist. Today those people have a name …. Wokeness. I’ve come to believe anything a white southerner likes is automatically deemed racist. To tell you the truth I’ve reached the age I don’t care what folks think.
I went to that game - it was really cold in old Atlanta Fulton County Stadium and Pepper got killed.

Wrong Peach Bowl
But same results yeah
I don’t think we’ve ever won a peach bowl

Well that was great in the 60’s and 70’s when there were few if any black players playing college football. Look around now and you will see that probably 80% of college football players are black and they don’t want confederate flags and Dixie. For the record I am white and 64 years old, but smart enough to realize if I want my football team to win I need to change with the times. I sorry you don’t care what people think anymore. You probably never did.
My man.

The Peach Bowl that I thought we really should have won was the 2000 team against LSU. We dominated the first half but a couple of special team turnovers gave LSU new life and momentum swung their way in the second half and they ended up winning the game. We had a great turnout and LSU traveled well. I believe attendance was over 70k,

Of course they are going to wear the most boring öööö they can throw together. öööö these öööööööööööös.

The state of Mississippi isn't our little brother, they're our nephew who came out with one eye that disappeared when it was two years old and then was never talked about again

If we secede again Mississippi is gonna wonder why we aren't returning their calls

I was working at the stadium for the Braves while in high school for that Peach Bowl. It was cold and rainy and our players seemed pretty unhappy to be there. Horne and Healy tried to run but we did not throw the ball well on the wet field. It did not seem to bother Norris Weese, the game MVP. This was the year after Archie left Ole Miss. I think this was Carson’s final game, if I remember correctly. Fulcher came in the next year and we won the Liberty Bowl.
