That was a good day.

That was Laskey's first 100+ yard game, correct?

Man, that was a hard-hitting game. Capped off by the great call to get Deon Hill on the pitch on fourth down.
We didn't break any real big runs that night, save for Perkins down the sideline for about 20. But it was coldly, brutally efficient

That game was lit. I wish we had more evening home games that year.

If TV had expected us to win 11 games, we probably would have.
I actually figured it out eventually.

But the 3O had a way of speeding up game time and eliminating clock stoppages. For example it tkes about three hours to play a game, but GT games would finish in 2:15 to 2:30. This means there were far fewer commercials!

We didn't get prime time games because ESPN didn't want to lose ad revenue from lost commercials.

That was fun to watch but if that game was played today Tech would have had over 30 penalties for blocking below the waist outside of the tackle box. Just goes to show that the new rule changes are killing the traditional 3O and why we do not need to go back to it.

That’s as plausible is I’ve heard. Seems like recently we’ve been getting beat on prime time/national tv

I think one of the new rules is blocking below the waist down field, isn't it? With "down field" being about 3 yards from the los.

"Blocking below the waist
The panel approved a proposal to improve safety and simplify the rules governing blocking below the waist. The proposal will allow blocking below the waist only by linemen and stationary backs inside the tackle box. Outside the tackle box on scrimmage plays, blocking below the waist will be prohibited."

I remember that game fondly. Told my son when Miami kept the LB's 5 yards off the line of scrimmage, that GT will win unless they turn the ball over. Miami never adjusted and counted on the LB's just flying to the ball. Remember the confusion in Miami's back 7 arguing and finger pointing. Far different from Miami having the safety fire into the backfield and successfully disrupt several plays.

The traditional 3O was around before cut blocking was.

Heh … pretty sure I’m solely responsible for our victory that night … through the power of the Holy Spirit … took people to church in 212 …

Wasn’t this the one where Miami only had 7 possessions the entire game?

Edit: looked it up.

- 8 possessions including one that started with 0:29 left in the 2Q.

- 44 total plays run

- 19:15 TOP

Reminds me of Syracuse (2013) lining up in some sort of weird defensive formation than looked like a 5 on a dice. We ran for elevnty million yards between the tackles. They never adjusted.
Or the 2008(?) game where FSU had two DL in the tackle box and both cut the center. Every time Nesbitt saw the formation, he audibled to a BBack dive for big yards.

Ha! FSU fan I know called that the watch Dwyer run 50 yards play. :rotfl:

But yeah, that Cuse game was a whoppin'. They literally looked as if they had never seen an option play before.

That was a fun night… was sitting in the North end zone and like other have said, knew we’d have it in the bag if they didn’t adjust their defense and they never did.

Reminds me of one of the Miami boards after they lost to us. They had still shots of the defenders blocking each other. One of them was on his head with no one around him on one play. Hilarious stuff.
