Other games today.

I’ve watched a few of their games; wife and all my siblings went there so I get stuck. To say they are underwhelming is an understatement. Winnable game for us. Not hyperbole or gold glasses. We can beat them.
We will have to stop the run. Were I any team playing us with a decent OL I might only throw five or six times in a game.

Not sure how many of you heard the CBS intro to TAMU-Tenn, but Wesley Walker’s comment was “No offense to where I was before, but these atmospheres are why you want to play in the SEC.”

Hopefully GT and the ACC overall can flip that narrative over the next few years. The ACC needs GT, VT to get back to the 8+ win level annually.

LOL you think our fanbase is ever going to step foot in BDS again?

There is a not insignificant percentage of the fanbase that is afraid to even venture inside the perimeter as if they are going to get mugged or killed.

No and silly. What I hear from 100% of our alums is how much more dangerous it was at Tech when they were in school. I’ve seen rougher areas that tech square with homeowners associations.

Our games are empty because we have been losing, particularly at home. Add in the break with traditions under the clown and you get the current BDS.

Side note: I don’t care how much money we make from the gold chairs, it’s a bad look that they are empty every game.

That's a BS excuse. There are lots of bad teams that putt more butts in seats than we do in far less populated metro areas. Our attendance is embarrassing.

So now the scary itp area is a bonus? We haven’t beaten uga in our house in our players lifetimes. Our alumni base is smaller and spread out. How are we going to win over sidewalk fans without (1) winning and (2) playing interesting home matchups. Returning to a bowl every year is step one.

Yes it is. But poor hires, bad performance, mismanagement, and screwing over the fans all builds up to this. Our AA has been a öööö show since forever. I’m old enough to remember that people spent years and a fair amount of money on AT points. Then the AA decided to go to the PSL and uproot people from long held seats. A lot of fans got pissed about that and have not come back.

So in response to my point about BS excuses you provide more BS excuses. I don't allow any of that to deter me from attending games in person because I am a GT fan and an alumni.

The simple answer is that we do not have a devoted and committed fanbase. And as I mentioned earlier, a lot of other teams do. It is what it is.

I’d argue that we don’t have a big fan base. Scarcity isn’t a problem for us unfortunately. Maybe it will be one day.

One of the reasons that our fan base is so small is because of the fan base itself. For some reason a lot of our fans are huge assholes (probably including myself at least at times). We tend to run off non-alum fans.

There aren’t a lot of bad teams with lower numbers of alumni locally from a school that has shown signs recently of not caring about football. GT is its own worst enemy. The school needs to do a better job of identifying with the state of Georgia outside of the Atlanta area. Non-alums are the fans that will help fill the stadium if we can get their attention. It could take a decade or two but is what GT needs more of.
Also, finding a way to add more tailgating spots closer to the stadium will help. Places with easy access to the interstate. That’s tough with everything around but GT has been expanding. More green spaces around the stadium and having campus plans grow more around the stadium will help long term for both the school and sports.

I ain't skeered to go, but I wouldn't linger until I was walking around by myself after dark either. Nothing is going to happen in a big crowd but people that don't go read things. I used to walk straight down Techwood to the Omni dollar theater when I was there before I knew anybody, was at least dusk a couple of times. Of course in that same era I walked across most of Oakland CA after dark one night, too. I was there in early 80's, what was done to our team on the field on a weekly basis was scarier than anything down Techwood.

I park up north and ride MARTA, I have not driven in a heavy area for quite awhile, although I did park in the CS deck in the Spring, walked by the pride steps, high point of the trip.

If we ever get good fans would come, but for now we are in "any excuse not to" mode. I am taking one trip a year, might have been my last one if this year's was BG.

MD is 5-1?
Look at their schedule to date:

Towson
Charlotte
UVA
Michigan State
Indiana
tOSU
Illinois

I mean if you take away playing tOSU, the combined record of their opponents is 10-26. No one close to a winning record. No one has above a 2-4 record. Even better is they play NW next week and have Nebraska, Rutgers on the schedule as well. They could end up the worst 9-3 team in history.

All the other games are mostly big yawns. UT vs A&M or Oregon and Washington are ok.
UF-SC jr is 24-21 at the half. Kansas up 25-24 over Okie State beginning of the 3rd quarter.

If you want a nap, Iowa is up 7-0 over Wisconsin at the half.

The noon slate was terrible. A bad Arkansas team gave mighty Bama a scare was the only close game. And Pawl already has them a CFP contender again. Give me a break.

And in the other games….BG up 24-7 on Buffalo.
