#OurRecruitingSucks

What ever new coach we get needs to make Georgia Tech a destination where the great talent around the Atlanta metro area wants to play. Kinda like U of Miami did with Miami and FT Lauderdale area. There is too much talent just in the ATL area for us to ever be this bad. Easier said than done,I know.
This is exactly correct. What Miami did is remarkable. They're no GT, but they have a very good academic reputation, still.

I like it, but there are some big differences... When Schnellenburger built up Miami in the early 80's, it was in a burgeoning urban area with no other D-I college team within 350 mi. If you lived in South Fla. and wanted to play college football and wanted your folks to even be able to drive to the games, there was no other place they could go.

In contrast, a huge number of big football schools are within 350 miles of Tech (UGA, Clemson, FSU, Auburn, Alabama, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Miss. St., Louisville, Kentucky, etc.).

Academic reputation on it's own isn't really a good judge for comparison here. Ohio St and Michigan both have good academic reputations but we wouldn't think it has that effect there. Miami is also a private college, I might be wrong about how it works but I imagine they can do more under the hood in terms of admissions than a public school could.

If we bring in a HC with a passing background, I would think we can sell offensive recruits on the opportunity to play immediately. We may end up with more scholarships due to transfers out.

We don’t need to do this.

If/when we switch coaching staffs, we need to implement a multiple offense that uses the option when needed....like what Fridge used to run with Joe Hamilton.

Dan Mullen’s offense. But that ship has sailed.

Any offense that includes passing, will require a QB, tight end, receivers and offensive lineman we do not currently have. We are OK at RB and may have A backs that can flourish as slot receivers.

Where is the lie?

Someone thought there were 130-ish better players than Clenin Ferrell in 2015?

LOL @recruiting rankings

TE is not necessary. Could slide Camp there if need be. We need at least 4 offensive tackles THIS Recruiting cycle if we go to speead

it's hilarious that people think the best football players would ever want to come to Georgia Tech. Why would they do that? Would you?

What is appealing about coming to play football at Georgia Tech? Independent of scheme. Proximity to a large airport?

Why would you go somewhere where you have to work as hard off the field as you do on the field? Just go to a nearby factory and visit Atlanta on the weekends.

There are no girls. There are hard classes. There are no fans. There is no crazy alumni-base throwing money at you. There is no instant notoriety.

Miami's academic reputation has been sullied by their athletic department, much like UNC's has been sullied by theirs. Sure, some people view Miami as a good school; but most others think of it as Thug U, and I don't think anybody anywhere thinks of Miami's football team as Student Athletes.

Our recruiting is the same was it ever was.
Maybe, maybe not. The recruiting rankings are the same or better (average wise) under CPJ. How much has our recruiting ranking benefited, for example, by a change in the rankings that seem to give former two-stars a three-star minimum now if they have a P5 offer, though? If you look at MANY of our offers, we are their only P5 offer and we beat out Sunbelt and CUSA conference teams for these kids. It's not like we are beating out other P5 teams for many of these three-stars, which for sure were two-stars before the current CFB conference alignment.

Examining the history of GT NFL draftees, it does appear we are below average in the amount and quality of draftees for the past four years and trending downward. We didnt have any draftees in 2018 and there may not be a single draftable player on the roster right now so we could be shut out in the foreseeable future. Maybe this is a sign of a deterioration of our talent level?

I dunno if their academic reputation has been affected, because I've never seen a bigger disparity/disconnect between the school and the football program anywhere else. They play their games miles away from campus. It seems like their fanbase is almost exclusively people who didn't go to school there (or anywhere) and may not even realize that there's a school attached to their football team. It's almost like Miami the football program and Miami the university are completely unrelated to each other.
