Per the GT press release, Parker Executive Search (https://www.parkersearch.com/) has been retained to lead the search for the new AD and FB coach. I've never heard of these guys, are they for real? Hopefully we did not hire the JV team...

"Jacob Anderson has been with Parker Executive Search since 2012 and serves as a principal within the higher education practice. He has broad-based knowledge of higher education with specialized expertise in academic health sciences. As a principal, Anderson is charged with identifying and recruiting strong leaders for the firm’s clients. He works in close collaboration with the firm’s vice presidents on various search responsibilities, including setting a strategy recruiting qualified people, researching and sourcing potential candidates, interviewing and presenting candidates for review, managing the committee and finalist interview processes, and ensuring clients reach closure with the preferred candidate. Anderson also partners with the firm’s vice presidents on new client engagement and business development. Anderson is originally from the Washington D.C. area. He was a four-year recipient of the University of Georgia Charter Scholarship and graduated summa cum laude from the University of Georgia Honor’s Program with a Bachelor of Business Administration in finance and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish. During his time in college, Anderson spent eight weeks studying and living with a family in Seville, Spain. He also interned and worked as a research consultant for Parker Executive Search. Following graduation, he directed the website redesign of a leading real estate auction firm. After completing the project, Anderson joined Parker Executive Search as an associate in the academic health sciences practice. Anderson enjoys traveling and college football. He lives in Brookhaven, Georgia."

Grew up in DC. Went to UGa. Has a connection to President of Oregon State. No. Just No.

Do we really need an exec search firm? Can GT not come up with a good list? It ain't that hard. AND, you know the search firm will take a big finder's fee, further making this whole debacle even more expensive.
Search firms take 25% of the first years salary, so about $1 million. Given that the average football fan can give you the likely list and the evaluation criteria is something that a search firm won’t be able to evaluation (expected wins), this seems like burning money.

Just noticed that. Most of the principals are UGA alum. WTF. Conflict of interest....

Note the article is from 2013. They have been a big player in this practice area for a long time. They give both sides cover. They have made a few notable mistakes, but also have a good track record. We were always going to use a search firm. Might as well use the best in the industry and one that is located close by.

We just fired an AD, in part, for not doing an exhaustive and analytical search last time. The result of the previous searches have led us to candidates like Bobinski, Todd at AD and our last HC search only had 2 real candidates: Whisenhunt and the guy we ended up hiring when Whisenhunt withdrew his name from consideration. Get a search committee, get 6+ interested and qualified coaches, interview, negotiate beneficial terms and don't be afraid to go with second choice if the terms are more favorable. We win 7+ with almost any reasonable candidate. The program as a whole is a lot more desirable today than it was in 2019, in large part due to the transfer portal.

We should hire someone to run the AD search.

But the AD should run the the FB coach search, period. If you can't hire a CEO for your largest portfolio company, you shouldn't be running the portfolio.
