We are doing it professionally. This is a good thing
Seems like we let Todd hire Geoff mostly by himself last time.Do we really need an exec search firm? Can GT not come up with a good list? It ain't that hard. AND, you know the search firm will take a big finder's fee, further making this whole debacle even more expensive.
Why as Georgia Tech folk do we not think that a computer could help us find an optimal hire? Our leadership lacks creativity.
We are throwing good money after bad with this.
They can only be looking at the AD as a new AD will make his own coaching hire or he is just a wuss.
Would Auburn pay an Alabama alum to choose their next coach? Have Georgia alums cornered the market on coaching search services? Proximity is irrelevant. They'll probably end up having most discussions over zoom or facetime anyway. The tone-deafness of this move is just mind blowing. We were always going to use a search firm. Might as well use the best in the industry and one that is located close by.
Get ready for more öööö show.Bunch of dwags
I liked Gailey, an X's and O's man that given some MONEY to hire a full staff might have put 20 players in the NFL. He knew what he was up against and he knew what TECHs choices were going to lead to.I’m pretty sure a search firm we hired came up with Gailey. IMO, not a bad hire.
My wife had a great point about this. Her take is the reason to do this is if they don’t have any great candidates and need someone to blame if this goes sideways. Probably right.Search firms take 25% of the first years salary, so about $1 million. Given that the average football fan can give you the likely list and the evaluation criteria is something that a search firm won’t be able to evaluation (expected wins), this seems like burning money.
It is already going sideways. My wife had a great point about this. Her take is the reason to do this is if they don’t have any great candidates and need someone to blame if this goes sideways. Probably right.
How many people are blaming the search firm for Collins? CYA is not a good reason. What's our batting average on coaching hires in revenue sports over the past 10 years? Have they been getting good advice? My wife had a great point about this. Her take is the reason to do this is if they don’t have any great candidates and need someone to blame if this goes sideways. Probably right.
