You are dumb. He said he wants a good degree. Most of those do not qualify. Here is a list of professions where you are legitimately better off going to UGA for:

Lawyer
Politician
Journalist
Veterinarian
Farmer
Wildlife/Fisheries Biologist
Forester/Park Ranger
History/English/Music Teacher

Next time I hear a UGA commit say he wants to go there because of one of those professions I will believe him. The only ones I have ever heard are journalist and teacher.

I'm not the most knowledgeable on the subject, but I'd find it hard to believe that there is enough separation between GT's and uga's advertising, accounting, etc. programs to definitively state that one is better than the other.

Plus, this kid didn't say "I want to go to the best school possible." He said he wanted a good education with a high paying job. If both GT and uga offer good educations in a particular topic, I don't know how you can fault the kid.

marketing is what you do when you get a degree
advertising is what you do when you stand on the side of the road with a sign

getting a degree in "advertising" seems like a total waste to me

haha. That's pretty much true minus the "creatives," which I understand is pretty much an impossible job to get anyways.

You could be right that the education itself is comparable, but the fact that his diploma has a GT on it will probably result in a higher paying job.

Have you seen some of the dudes walking around GT campus these days? Ask yourself that question again

Wait....I thought every GT student was like twitter kings Louis Young and Jemea Thomas? Am I wrong? :dunno:

Maybe so. There are also a ton of uga grads around the city of atlanta, so its not like that network is worthless either.

My company has a good bit of both. I wouldn't say either is uneducated.

No it doesn't. The same rules don't apply to student athletes from the football factories, and to some extent the ones at Tech.

Dude might get a degree that's a joke, but if you see any significant time on the field, even just being a decent special teamer, someone is going to give you an above average job compared to your skillset as a "thank you".

The average mid-career pay for a GT grad is six figures. Will they get a "thank you" job of that caliber?

He said he wants to be an Occupational Therapist. I guess that falls under Psychology?

Kinesiology

Uga has it.

As far as I know, we don't.

Sounds like it would be the perfect major to add to attract athletes. Just look at the related career fields:

Adapted Physical Activity
Aquatics Director
Athletic Administration in School or College
Athletic Trainer
Biomechanist
Cardiac Rehabilitation Specialist
Chiropractic Physician
Coaching at School or College
Director of Youth Camps/ Sport Programs
Epidemiologist – Physical Activity
Exercise Physiologist
Fitness Instructor or Program Director at Commercial Fitness Center - Program Director of Corporate Fitness Center - Sports Director at Resort
Massage Therapist
Medical Doctor
Occupational Therapist
Personal Trainer
Physical Education Teacher at School or College
Physical Therapist
Physician’s Assistant
Professor of Kinesiology, Physical Education
Recreational Therapist
Registered Nurse
Respiration Therapist
Sport Management
Sport Psychologist for Performance Enhancement
Sports Information Director
Sports Journalist
Sports Marketing
Sports Officiating
Strength and Conditioning Coach

On second look, we do have this:

School of Applied Physiology

Seems like this would have set him up nicely for grad school in OT.

edit: On third look this is only a certificate, not a undergraduate degree offering.

^^^^ either way, Occupational Therapy is a graduate degree and you can get to with any number of undergrad degrees.

i have a buddy who did ME at Tech and then OT and now works with mass transit systems to make their access easier for persons with slight disabilities

If you want to go into the hottest field in law, then an engineering degree from Tech. would be the better undergraduate degree for IP.

inside joke--someone wrote "mind bottling" in a post a year or so ago
