Paul Johnson - For those "Boom MF!!" fans

This guy reveals yet another similarity with Gailey. He blames players for losses. It is interesting that he did not deny that part.

We fired Gailey, lost Tenuta, get a big bill to pay, and we could end up with Gailey's twin.

What a mess.
Whoever we hire, you're clearly lost man. Why not just make some more stuff up?

Gailey always took responsibility for losses. In fact, he said it so much I got sick of it because he sounded so pathetic saying time and time again how he "didn't have the players ready to play, and that's my job".

Perhaps y'all should read the following part of the press conference that was left out of the original post. Doesn't look like he's blaming anybody but himself to me:

Wagner: But the bottom line is the coaches do take as much responsibility as the players when the team loses?

Johnson: We are ultimately responsible. What did I say about eight million times? I did a poor job. We have to get them ready. What else do you want me to say?

Thanks for the added material. I take it back about Johnson--although he would be a bad choice for coach.

I don't take it back about Gailey. Apparently, a wad of you guys never listed to what Gailey had to say. A friend and I used to frequently note Gailey's blaming others for failure. I am not going to look through every statement made by Gailey for six years to cite examples, nor do I have any need to defend myself against people who failed to pay attention.

Dan Radakovich: "Our next coach will reach out across Atlanta and the State of Georgia with leadership that is aggressive, creative, and accessible to the media and fans"

Paul Johnson: "Whatever he thinks. I don't go down to McDonald's and start second-guessing his job so he ought to leave me alone"

Paul Johnson: "You know what? I could care less. I'm old enough where I could give a crap what the fans think or what you think to put it in a nutshell"

If we end up with PJ or Tenuta, it's obvious that they were forced on DRad.

I have been critical of Johnson. I have not been critical of any other candidate (except Scherer, who I used to "discuss" things with and who invited me to watch film back in the 80's, but that thread was a joke).

So, who is making stuff up? Seems that you need to look in the mirror.

1. You're wrong. Gailey most recently was torched on Atlanta radio for failing to blame Reggie Ball one iota.

2. You don't even get it. The exchange between Johnson and the reporter has nothing to do with who's blaming who.

3.

I listened to Gailey all the time and I never heard him blame any of his players, ever.

Link please.

first off, if you think that PJ is a Gailey 'twin' then you are simply dumb, or have not spent any time at all comparing the two.

secondly, if you claim that Gailey blamed players, then you are a liar! The man gave the players every credit and took all the blame. he was the most decent human being that will ever be Head Coach at Georgia Tech.

go crawl into a hole and come back out when not every word you say is "sky is falling".

are you sure your font isnt JacketDown?

I thought that was a pretty creative and aggressive response. He also gave the guy his home address and invited him down to discuss it. How much more accessible can you get than that?

One man's "accessible" is another man's "condescending".

He reminds me a lot of CCG? Explain what I'm missing seriously.

They both like to run the ball it seems. They both think they innovative wonders at the offense. I could see Gailey getting ticked and responding to a reporter like that. And, they both seem to be with the older good ol' boy crowd.

Don't mean this as a crack. But, he seems like a slightly more accomplished version of CCG IMHO. Even watching the guy talk I'm kinda reminded of Gailey

Except that Paul Johnson actually has the credentials and results to back it up.

In D1-AA? He seems pretty par to me in D-1 so far. I mean, really? I never though Gailey was bad just not great. Like I said in my previous post, PJ looks slightly better. Don't forget CCG never had a losing season could run the ball great and went to a bowl every year. What is so special about PJ that he's worth double the money?

Um, yeah? The guy's been coaching at NAVY. He won 2 (first year), 8, 10, 8, 9, and 8 games at NAVY. He's coaching players that are smaller and slower than almost all BCS conference schools and actually competing! Are you serious? You don't see the difference between him and Gailey?
