Paul Johnson reveals starting lineup for Georgia Tech

Marshall, a SR, getting beat out by a FR, Quinney at starting LT is surprising.
Marshall is still recovering from an injury. He's cleared, but I guess he doesn't get the starting spot yet until he's practiced enough.

Yeah in the press conferences CPJ has seemed pretty confident in Marshall. I'm guessing you're right it's just a practice time thing. CPJ is big on 'if you don't practice you don't play,' whatever the reason for not practicing.

Just more proof that Quinlan is an idiot and doesn't know what he's talking about half the time.
Would you say that, in terms of knowing what you're talking about, like, he doesn't?

True. But askew, swilling, and Jackson were all big time recruits. Would’ve been nice to have Gray back there for some veteran leadership.

It might be tough to see this year while breaking in the new scheme, but next year’s defensive depth chart should be one of the most talented we’ve had under CPJ.
Seven seniors and a R-JR starting on defense. If the new defense is effective, we might be pretty good. Hopefully they will be playing against lots of Fr and Sophs on the other teams.

yeah, I noticed that also
if we aren't good it doesn't bode well for next yr unless names change during yr

Aggressive defense and young secondary means we are gonna get beat deep a few times this year. Be expectant. Excited otherwise!

Saw this story from earlier in the summer regarding Malik Rivera.

https://www.ajc.com/sports/college/graduate-transfers-join-georgia-tech/3JoS24ZVKNYopojI0u5jNM/

"Rivera, from St. Johns, Fla., played in 28 games and started 17 in three seasons with the Terriers. Last season, he ranked third on the team in tackles, with 73, and had four pass breakups. His position coach for the past two seasons was Shiel Wood, now the safeties coach at Tech.

Rivera was a triple major at Wofford in mathematics, finance and computer science. He will pursue a master’s in quantitative and computational finance."

Nice! Dude is a frikkin financial analyst genius like @Akinji07.

Wow - bright kid. Being a quant will take him a long way.

Yep. I’m prepared to get beat on some explosive plays. I’m ready to sacrifice that for some semblance of a pass rush. Hopefully the fan base understands this and doesn’t crucify Woody the first game somebody hits a few homeruns.

Which also makes me curious how his scheme evolves with a lead in the 4Q. Is he still as aggressive? And if not does that make our smaller DL more susceptible to the ground and pound.

Man, just ready for the season to start already.

Players have confirmed that there was a scooter crash. It just wasn't a rental. It was Swilling's own scooter... so not really FALSE
