Peery to the Portal

Huh? Sims won the job. We didn't just throw him out there for giggles. I don't think it matters if we put Peery in or not, but it's weird you're so insistent on it. He was 4th string until like the 7th game, then 3rd string. Really no reasonable expectation he would play this year.
Why couldnt we put him in when there was garbage time? There was plenty of it this year, and he easily looked like one of, if not the better QBs on our roster.

Yep, he never really cracked the 3 deep despite the 3rd string being what it was. Was not a good sign & eventually what we were all thinking as the season tromped along became reality.

Good. Report me for pointing out dumbasses. Sims completed over 60% of his passes for 1500 yards. In spite of our OL, he had us in every game, leading several in the 4th. Yes, we lost to Pitt by a pretty big score, but he was 24/33 359 in the game. We lost to Miami by 3 with him at the helm. He came in and won the UNC game
If you couldn't recognize the severe dropoff in talent from Sims to Yates then you absolutely deserve to be called a dumbass

Because maybe Peery couldn't adjust to the speed of college football. Maybe it would have been like taking me from the stands and telling me "you're up, go QB"

Obviously, the dropoff from Yates to Peery was severe enough that Peery didn't earn time on the field.

Trash posters should be trashed you big baby. There are plenty of other Tech forums that will protect your little fee-fees from the mean man on the internet if that's what you need in life.

But we have him on the team, not you. We might as well put him in the garbage time we had all season.

Maybe our staff knew, and likely the players knew, that he was nowhere near ready to play D1 football. He's gone now, so it doesn't matter.

I would have liked to see him okay. I would have been OK seeing the Temple transfer play. Apparently, neither was seen as being able to perform anywhere near the level of "not getting himself killed"

You’re telling me you trust the last staffs judgements? Was Dontae Smith not good enough to play other than 5 snaps per game? I certainly think not. He surely performed well.

Do I think they can look at a QB in practice and see he doesn't deserve PT? Yes. And what does Smith have to do with it? We had a loaded backfield. We are not loaded at QB. We had Sims, clearly the most gifted physically of our QB's, as the starter. Yates was second string because, clearly, Peery couldn't wrestle the position from him.

Were you at practice? Are you a QB coach? What makes you think Peery was capable of going in against ND or UGA without getting murdered
No and no. I was saying all along since Peery wasn’t cracking the 3 deep it was not a good sign. Many on here thought that was incorrect. I have no idea that your opinion was in the past, but your position now is correct. Well, looks like it my crude analysis was correct all along and we’ve got some inability to deduce things which are readily apparent here.

We can play multiple running backs in a game… Dontae Smith was CLEARLY producing, but the coaches don’t seem to want to have him in. He had a higher YPC than both Gibbs and Mason… But the coaching staff doesn’t seem to want to play him. So no, we really shouldn’t trust their judgement calls…

I think several just would have thought "put Mason in the pistol with Smith and Griffin in the two back" the way the gagger game was going.

Why we didn’t with Mason, Gibbs, Smith and Griffin not have a minimum of 2 of those on the field if not 3 at all times this past season was very frustrating.

I guess you can also look at it as Smith came into the game in different situations. Perhaps having Mason pound the ball and Gibbs tiring out defenders in pursuit made the yards per carry a bit easier for a fresh back.

I did like the two back set. I think it worked better with Sims because he was such a threat with his speed. Sims is a TD threat on every run.

What was his situation? Come in for 5 plays so fans still know he’s on the team? Seems like they succeeded if that’s what they were going for
