Pitt -7, how does GT matchup?

It’s a regressing, undisciplined Tech team against a fantastic defensive front that gets pressure on the QB as well as anybody. It’s a horrible matchup, and we’ll probably see several more backbreaking turnovers this week. Pitt covers.

If we have our former abacks wear suicide vests that explode when tackled, we might get something going on the ground. You know, a little something to soften up the defensive front early.

We’re probably 4-4 vs Pitts schedule; and they’d be what, 3-4 vs ours? The only real difference is that we laid an inexplicable egg against Cuse this year
Pitt only lost 2 games with their starting QB. Do you think we would've beaten FSU or Louisville with James Graham or Jordan Yates at QB?

If trends continue, that's what will happen. This is the game where we find out what this team and its coaches are made of. Tighten it up and we might turn it around against Pitt. I think this game will be a crucial indicator of the rest of the season.

We've had a week off to fix what's fixable, including (for one) our QB's pocket awareness and the fumbles. We'll see what happens...

Maybe. We actually won 2 conference games with James Graham last year, so it’s not unthinkable that he could lead us to a victory.

Hell, we may have beaten Cuse if we played a QB that didn’t turn the ball over 63 times. our current QB isn’t exactly lighting the world on fire; and he certainly isn’t irreplaceable. Maybe you haven’t noticed that.

You need a pocket first to have pocket awareness. The game will hinge way more on the performance of the OL than the QB and there just might not be much hope for a lot of them.

It's certainly not unthinkable. We could beat every team left on our schedule. We could also very easily lose to all of them. All I'm saying is that Pitt is not a good matchup for us. Experienced QB that will take advantage of defensive mistakes, and elite defensive front that will put lots of pressure on our young QB.

Their D scares me more than their O; I think this game will look a lot like last year's. Of course, if we gift wrap a bunch of TOs the final score will get squirrely

Well it's both, but there have been times when our QB had a certain amount of protection but stood in there too long. QB's always get kudos when they coolly stand in there until the last second and then complete the pass, but Sims has been a little too cool back there. At a certain point he needs to either release it or get on the move. Onrushing linemen have been keying on swatting the ball. Maybe he needs to roll out more?

I know the OL is a major problem, but I mentioned QB awareness because it has also been lacking and may be much easier to fix than our OL in the remainder of this season.

Ah, a Secret Treaties fan?
yes.
buddy of mine is a HUGE BOC fan. went with him many, many years ago to see BoC in a place in Orange Park, just outside of Jacksonville, with perhaps the two worst opening bands of all time.
But they put on a good show.
