PJ to Tech 2.3 mil for 6 yrs.

Money aside, this is a great hire. Tech is a unique school, with unique demands on its football program. There are really only a few coaches that have what it takes to take us to the next level, and Paul Johnson is one.

Great times are ahead.

But remember guys, according to the brain trust on here we are strapped for money. Yeah, right

I'm glad this is about to be over but were overpaying PJ. Tenuta's salary just went to PJ, and he better not be bringing all those assistants down here.

I have the feeling this is all the work of some big donors, and it is money we would not have access to if we were not spending it on a head coach. It is tough to go from being in the red to paying over 4 mil a year for a coach(FCCG's buyout + CPJ's salary) without a newfound source of big-time wealth.

So Tenuta is gone? I could see Tenuta working with PJ.

The concern over the salary is a bit misguided. If you look at how much money Tech stands to lose if the football program doesn't get turned around, $2.3 mil isn't really that big a deal. High coaching salaries are all about high expectations and protecting the investments already made.

It does seem to be a little high, but I'd like to wait to see what the entire package is. Hypothetically, if his base is 1.5MM/year and the rest is rubber chicken circuit kind of stuff, does the AA pay that portion of the salary or is it truly from the money generated by those avenues?

I'm just asking cause I don't know who pays those portions of the HC salary. Anyone?

Dem, your input and insight throughout this process is greatly appreciated, at least by me!

I am really excited about this and if we lock it up, I will trust PJ to make the right decisions about assistants. Also, as I stated in another thread, I plan to increase my contributions, I hope and expect that many others will plan to do the same. Not to mention that the BUZZ created by PJ's hire should make this the most exciting offseason at Tech in years:D

Will anyone here care about how much he makes if we start beating the leghumpers 3 out of 4 years and win several ACC champs and finish ranked every year including some top 10's???

Oh My God!!

Poor little Georgia Tech must have had to take out a sub prime loan to pay that kind of money. Everyone knows we can't afford this.

What will we do? Car washes and bake sales start tomorrow.

Go Jackets!

(This is tounge in cheek)

no, but that's a big if...tech has not proven that it can do that. Hopefully PJ will lead us there, but you will have a hard time convincing many that it is guaranteed...

I could play the what if game and ask you much you will care about him making 2.3 million per year when 3 years into his contract he has us at a record of 4-7...will suck to have to buy that contract out.

Agreed...let's hope we don't have to cross that bridge...and I don't think we will...

I see much brighter days ahead!!!

Will the women's tennis team be sponsoring the car wash?

Dem, isn't Radakovich's background in finances? My gut reaction is that $2.3/6 years is a lot, obviously. But if Rad's a money guy, wouldn't he not do this if it wasn't feasible?

Yes, its feasible, its still a lot of money. Put him above a lot of big name coaches.

If we get 2.5 losses per year (Half what CCG had), will it be worth it?

It will be worth it at 3 losses per year, regular season.

It will be worth it at 9 regular season losses per year if none of them is UGA.

Somebody with a big checkbook must have really wanted this guy.

Sounds fine by me.

Wow!! More than Richt, Fulmer, Beamer, and Miles!?!!

You better expect that won't last long.

Gold Rush Dance Team.

Mrrhhmmmmm... ...Weennndddyyy....

How dare you demean the most successful team in GT sports history?

And by that I mean I would go to that car wash every day and twice on Sundays.
