PJ to Tech 2.3 mil for 6 yrs.

Yes, its feasible, its still a lot of money. Put him above a lot of big name coaches.

Yeah, it's a chunk of change no matter how much cash you've got to play with. I didn't realize about the big name coaches he's paid more than now.

Ladies and Gentlemen and Coach Johnson: This makes a huge statement about what is expected from the GT football program henceforth. Forget halftime performances by dancing Little Bitty People or end zone quiz shows for the severly education challenged in order to get people in the stands. Tech expects to receive its money worth in wins and subsequent increased gate receipts.

I would have much rather seen a lower $ contract laced with high dollar incentives, then at least we'd be guaranteed to get our money's worth. This is a very expensive experiment.

I think they prefer to be called "little people".

Edit: LOL at your edit.

Same here. If all 2.3 is guaranteed money...wow. I'm excited and think he's going to win a ton of games, but that's a chunk of change.

Sweet, I will see if I can get my group to move up to the next Tech Fund section. Maybe we can help offset some of the cost.

He would not have signed a contract like that. Coaches hate that, and they would only take a contract like that if there wasn't guaranteed money elsewhere, and in CPJ's case there was.

Unfortunately, I would think that a move like this would force us to try to tap even more of the revenue stream you get from sponsored bits like that.

They're only REALLY annoying if we're playing badly at the time... and I'm thinking that won't be the case as often anymore :fingersx:

But in 6 years we'll be at the avegerage again the way coaches salaries have gone. I also doubt it's $2.3 in base salary or that it's paid evenly over 6 years. Could include housing, etc., for all we know. I guess I care about this as much as I cared about Chan's salary...not a bit. The point is he's got to produce on the field. If he does, his salary won't matter.

I'm sure some will call me crazy but I think his D's performed well for their talent level and size before this season. Take a really good long look at USNA's defensive depth chart, and also remember they don't get redshirts.

This season they were decimated. I think they had 2 starters back and both of those guys were out at least some of the season.
