Players to get commemorative ring for beating UGAg

Eh, whatever, the kids got to design it, that game along with the FSU were pretty much the defining moments of the year with Miami coming in 3rd. And its the game that pretty much put us in the peach bowl. Lose to the mutts and we'd probably be playing Vandy.
 
I think they should do it every year, every time they beat Georgia. I like it.. rub it in the Dawg's noses...
 
I saw this earlier, and immediately wasn't a fan of the ring. I've already taken some crap for it from a UGAg friend of mine.

Luckily, another Tech friend reminded him that they retired Theron Sapp's jersey when he ended our 7 game win streak. Sapp even said the only reason his jersey was retired was because he scored the winning touchdown against us. IMO, that's way worse.

Not really a big fan of this, but whatever. In my opinion you get rings for championships, or the big national events like a Final Four, when you've really accomplished something - unless you're our 2006 College World Series team, in which case you get nothing. But that's another fight...
 
Guys, they're getting a ring for the season. The seniors decided to put the ugag score on it as part of the design. This is not a ring to commemorate that game. Read the story, not the stupid headline. The headline writers at the AJC have to be the worst in the country.

Do you think they'd be getting a ring to commemorate this season if they hadn't beaten UGA?

you gotta win your bowl game if you're gonna say your season is worthy of a ring imho. i hope the team doesn't feel like they already won their "championship".

That's beside the point. The UGA win helped in large part to make this a big season, that doesn't mean it's the reason they're getting the ring. Christ, I'll bet some of you are the same guys that throw a tantrum whenever one of our guys celebrates a touchdown.
 
Lets make sure we get this story straight...read it more closely.

They were getting a ring to commemorate the season anyway. When deciding what to put on the ring, one of the things the seniors wanted was the GT-UGA score.

The ring was not purchased for the sole purpose of commemorating the UGA game.
 
I'm not a big fan of the ring; but with the NCAA rules being what they are, what else are you going to do with the $180? A watch or maybe a nice framing of some hedge.
 
some uga guys on a hunting board i'm on pounced on the headline but a couple of us tech men quickly pointed out the sapp incident.
