I figure we can get one of these going after every game to gauge fan interest as the season progresses (insert math joke here).

A couple of newcomers to the poll...

Can we stop this foolishness? None of us decide and it’s not fair to Key. Players might read this öööö. Just let it play out for god sake

Man, normally I am pretty on board with this thought -- I hate the stupid threads that do nothing but trash Collins for the lulz as the players were understandably upset about the whole thing and piling on serves no purpose.

But expecting fans to not speculate at all about who the next coach will/should be? That's a bridge too far even for me. Speculating about team's future is a pretty core part of the fan experience, and everyone understands Key is only interim at this point.

Anyway, last time I said it was too early to say anything. After hearing more from Key and seeing the win, I'm now confirmable choosing him with the caveat that there's still a long way to go this season and things could change.

We’ll the last part of what you said is just the point. Key is wisely choosing to downplay all success. We have a long way to go regardless. Honestly I think Key can make me enjoy the season again even if he’s passed over. I just want that. To enjoy the season. Everything else is noise.

Still hesitant to jump on the Key train. Two wins after the way we started the season speaks for itself. And I still like the idea of a Tech alum being in charge (mostly so we can hang onto them if we hit with them).

But his position group sucked for a lot of years and we had some clock management issues in both games so far. Don’t want to be fooled by how low the bar has been set.

Might not matter though because I don’t think Key fits the criteria Cabrera outlined.

If Prime and Garrett Riley aren't attainable, then I would settle for Chadwell or Key.

I'm like a few others that have chimed in. Feel free to do your polls and such but I think it is a bit of a disservice to Key and the team. I'll vote Key until end of season I think.

Can’t remember where but if I’m remembering correctly it was STTE of established/experienced HC.

That's one of those statements that will be easy to justify either way he goes. If he wants Key, then he won't have any trouble saying, "Key established himself by going 6-2 as the head coach of this team." (If that happens, of course.)

I want a winner. If Brent Key can win then he deserves the job. Now, does winning this season sufficiently demonstrate he is a winning coach? That is another question. But if he does win this season then let’s answer the second question next season.

I'll keep voting for Key because that means we're having a successful season. If he loses 4 the rest of the way, then I'll vote other because none of the other names even remotely excite me and 2 of the names would probably result in me relegating my GT Fandom to a once was status.
