Predictions for the 2022 season - stats

We ain’t winning five games averaging 310 yards per game on offense
I am taking in the fact we'll struggle against 3-4 teams, while doing very well with another 3-4... So, I am averaging those games... I hope I am low with my guess.

They all have P5 experience. They have all been part of successful programs.
-Long is known for being hard-nosed and demanding a lot of his offense as well as his creative use of TEs.
-Weinke is a national champion, Heisman winning QB that is coaching our QBs now. That has to be an improvement.
-Daniels coached Buffalo's RBs to a top 30 rushing offense last season.
-Alexander is a 20+ year coaching vet with multiple P5 jobs as well as a stint in the NFL.
-Turner has 30+ years P5 experience, most of that coaching DL in the SEC.
-Tillman has been a part of very recent success at Michigan State. He may not be the best new hire but anything has to be improvement over our DB coaching the last 3 years.
-Semore coaching LBs for one has to be better than Thacker. He has been a successful DC at several smaller schools and played LB in college.

Anyway my point being, you asked about both coaches and players, and when asked do you not think the coaching hires are improvements, you said "it's not about X's and O's, it's the Jimmies and Joes." So even if all the above is correct and our coaching staff is much better than last year, you don't think we'll see any improvement?

My favorite hire was the recruiting guy. But CGC won’t be around long enough to reap the benefit of that I don’t think.

Good summary, but how do you think our OL is going to be as compared to last year? I think we will have QBs running for their lives.

If we can find another experienced OT in the portal that can start, I think we will see major improvement. If not, I still think it will be better than last year.

LT - losing Cochran probably the biggest blow. He was our best pass blocker but he wasn't great in the run game. We could use an experienced OT to step in here or hipe that Leftwich/Green are ready to contribute.

LG - Cooper played hurt when he played, we had Minihan and Lay filling in there too at the end of the year. We have Quick and Tchio from the portal and I expect they will fill the 2 starting G positions and be improvements.
C - Minihan/Lay last year. Weston Franklin got some experience at the end of the year and I think it will be him and Lay at C.

RG - Johnson gone, he was good but not all-conference or anything. Again see my post about Quick and Tchio above as G's.

RT - Williams will be in his 3rd year starting. He has trimmed down some, moving quicker, and becoming a leader on the team. I see him making big improvement this year.

I do like optimism, so A+ for your evaluation! Let’s do this thing!

With all the asst coaching changes and transfer portal commits.. I predict 6 wins!

I f we get 6 wins. öööö can them all. We need 8 wins to keep them. Tell them to prove it the next year with 8 or more wins and then we can discuss extensions.

So you think we're going to get worse all the way across the board next year? You realize that even with the last 2 games being 100-0 our year end average PF/PA was 24/33.5.
I think we’ll be about the same as last year but with a harder schedule.

Offensively I think we score less because I don’t see a guy on our roster that will be able to bust a 50+ yard TD in 7 consecutive games.

I’ll be curious to see how the big influx of transfer portal players works out. I’m a big believer in the intangible “it” factor (chemistry, or whatever) that makes a good team great (like the 2014 team). I’m a little wary of how quickly all these disparate parts can be melded together to form a winning team culture. I’m not entirely sure we have the leadership from coaches or from player leaders to facilitate that.

Let's talk some predictions. Things you think we'll see, this coming season. Below are my predictions of what we'll see next season. I don't think we'll be overly terrible nor good, on either offense or defense. Think we'll be pretty middle of the pack on the stats. What are your predictions, for the coming season?

Wins - 5 games
Yards per game - 310 yards
Rushing per game - 110 yards
Passing per game - 200 yards
Points scored avg. - 20
Yards allowed - 355 yards per game
Rushing allowed - 110 yards per game
Passing allowed - 245 yards per game
Points allowed - 31 (inflated by games against tough teams)
Stats are fine.
UGA and Clemson are losses. But they should not be shut outs, and 50+ losses.

We play in the weakest division of P5. No reason we should not win 7 games and go bowling at this point. If we don’t, that’s a coaching failure. Period.

I love the addition of Chris Weinke. He should improve the most important position on the field—Sims, considerably.

I’m disappointed our DC kept his job. He should have been replaced. Same for Brent Key. He was a good player. But not a developer of talent on our OL.

I will be extremely disappointed if we don’t win 7 and make at least a lower tier bowl this season.

No more excuses in the ACC Coastal.

Prepare to be "extremely disappointed."

And what the öööö makes you think that Weike is magically going to make Sims better? Will he be a more accurate passer - because that is his major defect? What is the precedent for that?

I really hope that Weinke gets Sims lasered in. He is a really good talent. To be honest, I am shocked he hung around. I agree on our DC and Key... Neither impressed me. I think the DC was kept around, for the next scapegoat, to be fired. Should next season go into the crapper. I never said that Collins wasn't good at the political aspect of things. Just a really bad coach. I also agree that there are 3-4 games that are not winnable.. However; the rest are... We are not in a highly talented division and should expect to win our share of those games. However; I will never again underestimated the power of Collins to eff things up... The man is a moron... period...end of story... Until GT fires that clown, we won't get much better.

Yea. Folks around here acting like Weinke is a qb whisperer. His coaching resume isn’t much better than mine.

It would take Clemson 18 quarters to score 50 with DJ Ugialeheie at QB.

Dawgs can pick their score vs us. They’ve showed mercy the last 2 games as they’ve had bigger fish to fry.

Yes. When you cheat and pay your players and those players have no academic responsibilities at all it’s easy to “pick your score”.
