Press Conference link for Tuesday - Collins weekly press briefing

a real arrogant piece of crap this one is, the defenses at Miss St and Fla were already good before he arrived.
He was DC for 2 years at each so not long enough for him to have built or had full turnover of those rosters.
i think the Broyles Award committee should reevaluate their selection criteria based on the clown's head coaching (using term loosely) performance.

We were sold the Dabo model, but immediately cheaped out on the coordinators. Thacker and Pat should have never been hired. And there was no excuse in not firing them year 2. Neither displayed anywhere near top shelf ability. Hiring Long was no different. He isn’t bad, but he is neither innovative or a master at running your typical ncaa offense.

How could you get anybody who was a really good football coach to come join Collins' staff at Tech? Everybody knows it's doomed, except Cabrera and Stansbury. What dolts!

They must not have the guts. I give Collins credit for showing up.

He’s obligated to do media appearances.
Collins would get some small credit to agreeing to more favorable buyout terms for GT at this point. Otherwise he can piss off

I went to one of those weekly lunches with O'Leary in the club section of the West Stands. He said, "Recruiting is like shaving. If you don't do it every day, you look like a bum." I noticed Collins hadn't shaved for his press conference today, and I thought about what O'Leary said. I have a hand written letter he wrote me, a lot of which I can't read, because of his hand writing. But, part of what he said was, "Most of my job is being a baby sitter," or something like that. I wish he had never left Tech.
Ah, for the good old days. I too remember going over to the west stands, eating Chick Fil A and meeting with O'Leary. The guy was a real class act without being phony. One thing I remember about O'Leary's teams is we had an identity. We played tough win or lose, and mediocrity was not tolerated. Yeah, we lost some, but every single game I ever went to I went in knowing we had a chance. I never dreamed we could concoct such a öööö show as we have now.

Join it now? Probably impossible with our budget. Four years ago, we could have gotten a lot of guys. Two years ago, we still had options. Now, we are a zombie program.

I think Collins problem is he set up a good cop/good cop scenario. All carrots and no sticks. It leads to lazy players. It was no different on the Temple boards when we hired him. Fans lamenting that their program had lots the “Temple Tough” discipline that Rhule instilled.

Having ‘good cop’ at the top is a hard setup to pull off. Usually the top man is bad cop (Saban, OLeary, Harbaugh, etc). It can be done the other way, its just tricky (Bowden, Carroll, Sweeney). Dabo had made good cop/bad cop work at Clemson by being hands off on the coordinators (I love you man, but Brent decides on who plays on defense).
