Question for 56Jacket regarding the new hire

could you please clarify your question?

this doesnt make that much sense to me..
find me a single instance where there was a named head coach of an ARCH rival to coach at that other school.....

It is simle, show me here in the south where one of the Schools..i.e. hired a former player/alum of their ARCH rival to be their head coach. Coordinator's do not count.
I.E. an Alabama hiring as permanent head coach a Auburn ex-player as head coach or a Uga hiring a GT player/alum as head coach or a S.C. hiring a former Clemson player/alum as head coach.

Now it doesn't count to just hire a former player of one of your rivals, just ARCH rival. Dooley from Auburn doesnt count because Uga's ARCH rival is GT.

To my knowledge it has never occured.

Re: 1gtfan: To answer your ? Yep....

WRONG...Brad Scott was neither a former Clemson or South Carolina player. And just becausev he went on to be a coordinator at the other school he was not the head coach.
Go back and read what you asked. You didn't say anything about him being a former player...this time. And his title is Assistant Head Coach, not Coordinator.

Regardless of how it came out, the point is, it has never happened and if Drad made that mistake, we would be the 1st to hire an ARCH rival's ex-player/alum as a head coach.

Just because it hasn't happened, doesn't mean it's a mistake. A lot of it is timing too. When Bama was replacing Bear, was there even a All-Barn alum with a resume? How about the other way around? The PlainsWarTigers took Pat Dye to succeed Barfield, he had not only played at UGA, but coached under The Bear. Was there anyone else from Bama with a resume? Would Miami or F$U have taken Spurrier? You don't know. They had entrenched coaches.

Do decent coaches even come out of SC? Does anyone care about NC?

Would Georgie not consider a Tech man if he had the best pedigree? Are you sure?
