Quick Lane Bowl vs. Minnesota

Getting shafted by Belk because they've been in talks with UVA for weeks reminds us older folks of how all the bowls used to operate. They were always jockeying with one another to get the biggest fanbases locked up early on. It was common for bowls to invite teams early in November... then the teams would lose a bunch of games but still be entitled to the bowl bid. CFB has always been a dirty, political process, and even with all the additional rules and such, it still is. (Frankly it benefited us during Dodd's great run – there were a few years we were invited over arguably 'more deserving' teams)

FWIW, according to the ticket application, the GT seats are in sections 103 to 109, which is all sideline. Hopefully I'll get a good seat if I'm one of the 12 GT fans there, but I have no faith in the AT priority seating. Ticket was $100+$10 through GT, and the cheapest seat in those sections on StubHub last night was $77.

Defense: They run a 4-3 scheme, but this is a mixed bag. They started the year with a DC named Robb Smith who was ass. He came from Arkansas to join PJ Fleck and Arkansas were glad to see him go. They haven't played any option based teams in the past two years since Fleck was on. They mostly deal with pro set power rushing in the Big 10.

Thanks for the summary. It looks like Minnesota's current interim DC is Joseph Rossi. Although his current team hasn't played a TO team recently, he was the DC at Rutgers in 2015 when they played Army. Rutgers won 31-21, but Army put 401 yds of offense on him (261 rushing). I always feel optimistic about games against teams that are seeing our offense for the first time, and defensive coaches that aren't experienced defending it.

I like where Minnesota is going under P.J. Fleck, whose late-season defensive coordinator switch paid off as the Gophers dominated Purdue and Wisconsin. But Georgia Tech wants to send coach Paul Johnson out with a win, and the triple option clicks in the second half as the Yellow Jackets rally for CPJ.

Prediction: Georgia Tech 42, Minnesota 34

I wouldn't go that far.

I'm as confused by his consideration as everyone else is but maybe he wants out of the NFL and is ready to go all in for GT. Maybe he puts together a staff for the ages.

I'm not going to withhold support from the new coach until it is clear he isn't up for the job.

I remember not being thrilled with either the O'Leary or Gailey hire. One worked out and one didn't.

Let's just hope TStan doesn't screw this up - there is no way to know how it's going to play out.

One thing that would be very different between Whiz from Chan is that Whiz would hate the dwags immediately whereas Chan never hated them.
