Reasons for Optimisim - Post Tulane Eddition

I think that's why the offense seems to run so well when Byerly is in. He knows the offense well, & he can make the proper reads. That's all you need in this offense if the QB is mobile enough & can pass, which Byerly can.

JT is the most dynamic by far, but if he struggles, we're ok.

he ran like 3 or 4 plays. how can you conclude that 'it runs so well' with Byerly?

not putting him down, i liked the calls. he brings some weight close to the LOS, but to say he runs it well seems a bit premature to me

Byerly missed a few reads/checks BTW.

I thought we ran a pretty large play selection, including the double option with the Bback that was so successful with the studs back in 2008/2009.

I am not an expert on this offense at all, but you would think that CPJ wants to run the TO atleast 60% of the time....we havent run the TO on a consistent basis since Nesbitt from what I can remember. I just dont understand what the reasoning is here. Is he simply playing his hand right now? I dont know. Its just frustrating cause I am not sure what we are doing on offense. It seems like we are letting the defenses do what they want to do, and then adjusting to it, rather than making them adjust to what we are doing.

Clearly. The most we've ever run the TO is about 15% on the season. It's one play. It's not our offense. I'd expect someone who's been following us for the last 7 years to know this.

Amen. I'm glad we got Byerly but you can't tell much from his one series at the end of the game (where he did, in fact, miss a few checks) and his running the midline / QB delay for 1-2 yards.

look at his avatar. gain understanding of his nature

No one ever said that was all that we run. Just seems like we don't run it as much as we did in the early Nesbitt years

It's been TWO games so far. I don't remember clearly, but I doubt we ran it a lot against cupcakes when Nesbitt was QB. Not to mention that we aren't going to run it when the D is loading the middle like Tulane did yesterday. To the extent we run an option it's going to be a speed option to the outside.

15% is about right (8 to 12 snaps in an 80 play game), but CPJ will run the toss sweep 8 plays in a row if it is working. I think fans put too much emphasis in assuming incompetence results in lack of calling plays when it may just be how we're being defended.

Tulane clogged the middle, so we took a lot to the edge with toss sweeps, double options, and other quick-to-the-edge play calling.

Thanks for you clarity on the subject. And also, thanks for your obnoxious, egotistical response to my post. Its so refreshing to know there are so many douche bags on this forum who think they know absolutley everything and feel the need to vent there frustrations about their personal inadiquacies on this board. Sorry your life sucks...

From what I remember, we ran a lot less 3/o when tevin first started than when he was a senior. I think you call what your players can run well.

Look at your avitar....you must like taking large items in your mouth.
