I understand everyone's idea of "recovered" is different. However; to me, recovered is 6 wins and we stop losing games by 40 points. I think it's ridiculous that we cannot compete in games. We have pretty much turned into the Vanderbilt of the ACC. Will Key fix that? I don't think so. The dude cannot even teach kids how to block. So, I think this year is a wash. Next year, will be a rebuilding year, for the next head coach. However; I do think after that, we should compete. I would not give the new head more than a 3 year deal, maybe be at the max.

Agree. We lured Heismann by giving him a cut of the gate. It seems like a no brainer in the day and age of NIL and the no-restrictions portal to stop using a coaching contract structure that was built pre-those things. Give the new coach half a million per win and no long term guarantee. You want an average salary, make a bowl. You want a top 10 salary, make the top 10. Even better if you work in some of that 1/2 million is a cut of the gate receipts.

For the sake of discussion: Imagine the HC gets $4 per ticket. If we sell 25K he gets $100k win or lose. If we sell it out it is around $200k win or lose. Then make the win payout premium $400k. If you can't Deion with those incentives, then move on to coastal. The guy will get his base salary if we win 0, but he will have all the incentive in the world to win them all.

A normal HC that understands the rules, is able to recognize penalties during practice and makes players run the stadium steps and do burpees until they’re miserable for every silly penalty they make during a game can go along way.

We can be woe is me again later. Today is the celebration day. Christmas in September for Tech sports fans with the present weve been asking for our whole lives. Yes we won't know until later if it as awesome as it looked when we pined over it in the sears Catalog all those days and nights.
 
Maybe a hot take, but Collins did a good job turning over the roster and we have the athletic talent to go bowling this year.

If the new coach can teach and instill some discipline he’ll be bowling in year 1.

The portal is a huge game changer, for sure. If we have the right coach, kids may want to come over quicker. I feel that if we get a big name, kids will transfer in year 1. If we get a lesser named coach, it may take 2 or 3 for kids to want to transfer in. So, remains to be seen.
