Recruiting ...

OK, let me ask you guys something. Do you so called "experts" who are bashing Tech's #36 recruiting class, actually think Kentucky is really the #25 recruiting class? I'll answer that with a NO! Kentucky has 28 commits, which is the only reason they are where they are. The formula for scout.com's recruiting rankings is as simple as this:

-You get points for a 5,4,3,2 star rated player.
-The more commits you get no matter what star you are = MORE POINTS!
-That equals your final ranking.

Hmmmm, so based on that formula let's look at this a little closer. GT has 14 commits per scout.com with 3-4 spots still available for a final of 17-18 signees.

So with GT having a smaller class #'s wise, of course a team who can sign 25 and in Kentucky's case 28 players will have a so called "higher rated" recruiting class. It's all about NUMBERS and POINTS! As soon as some of you realize that then you'll understand why that ranking means nothing.

This recruiting class will unofficially be stronger anyway since 2 star LB Shane Bowen and 4 star Ath/LB Anthony Barnes will be at Tech along with 4 star RB Jamaal Evans starting in January. That's 3 players who get to come in and get a jump on the rest of the recruiting class by participating in Spring Practice.

I'll finish this by saying Scott Kennedy believes this is CCG's best recruiting class yet, and with the smaller class it was vital CCG and Co. go out and land some very good kids, and they have! And it's not over just yet! Even with the smaller class, this class will finish in the Top 35.

This recruiting class was shaping up to be a really bad one until the contract extension. Now there is definitely momentum. This is the point many "middle of the roaders" on Gailey made - a 6/7 win coach in trouble with the fan base is handcuffed in recruiting. A 6/7 win coach with the confidence a long term contract brings can recruit. This is why many who are certainly not completely satisfied with the program believe with strong support Gailey can improve the program and be more competitive for a conference championship and a major bowl.

a Recruiting discussion

now is pointless really. Many(anywhere from 1-5 at each school) ) of the signees won't even GET TO their college through bad grades, course incompletion, crime, injury, changing mind,etc-so what schools really have to work with is much different many times thus changing the classes and rankings..
