Refs conspiracy theory

The ref calls it a catch for # 88 on the side line in the 2qt. The replay shows it was dropped and was reversed. I'm watching the game again and the ref clearly was closeup in front of the play, it is :mad:hard to believe he misses that call and he call it a catch.....

Wass he the same ref who overturned DT being out of bounds and signaling hte clock to continue to run?

I know that the ACC officials are terrible.

Is there a conference that has a reputation for good officials? If so, what do they do different?

You know...the refs are human, they make mistakes. Hell, we all do. But that specific call will be hard to explain away, especially considering the WR fell on his left side heading south, bouncing the ball off the turf almost at the officials feet. If the guy can't see that, right ass in front of him from four feet, then he doesn't need to be officiating... at least not FBS ball....maybe pee wee or pop w.

They did make a few bone head ones against UNC. Remember the call butch challenged with the spot? After we catch the ball, the ref comes up and signals first down, I was LMAO. I wasn't perpendicular to the line of scrimmage, but you could easily tell there was no way that was even close to a first down. I usually give the officials a break with spots because it really is difficult for those guys to stay in position in the open field. I'm amazed at the consistency in which they are able to spot the balls correctly, but that one was outrageous.

Thanks for the info on the spot. I could not tell from my seat and wondered how a spot could be so bad that they would overrule the officials. (I forgot they are ACC officials).

Former UNC AD is in charge of the conference. What do you think happened?

Problem is, the refs are part time guys. They have their M-F 9 to 5 job, or are retired, and then they drive around on Saturdays to ref a game for an extra few bucks. Same in the NFL. You'd think, as much money as football generates, we could put these guys on full time, and then during the week (and offseason) they work on their reffing ability through tape analysis, camps, training, & whatever.
