You know...the refs are human, they make mistakes. Hell, we all do. But that specific call will be hard to explain away, especially considering the WR fell on his left side heading south, bouncing the ball off the turf almost at the officials feet. If the guy can't see that, right ass in front of him from four feet, then he doesn't need to be officiating... at least not FBS ball....maybe pee wee or pop w.
They did make a few bone head ones against UNC. Remember the call butch challenged with the spot? After we catch the ball, the ref comes up and signals first down, I was LMAO. I wasn't perpendicular to the line of scrimmage, but you could easily tell there was no way that was even close to a first down. I usually give the officials a break with spots because it really is difficult for those guys to stay in position in the open field. I'm amazed at the consistency in which they are able to spot the balls correctly, but that one was outrageous.
