Reggie Ball: a Tech Man

Hindsite was me being pissed off the very second we called the time out after Reggie ran us down there.

We were gashing NCSt on the run that entire drive. We get down to the goal line. NcSt entire DL what hands on hips and their head down. They were exhausted and defeated. PJ would have been a sure thing, and even if not, you call the TO and run your preferred play on 2nd down. Gailey bailed out their defense and gave them a chance to regroup. One of the dumbest TO I have seen a HC call.

Maddest I have ever been leaving our stadium. I was mad before the play. I was even at the Bobo yellow flag game and I wasn't that mad because that was refs. We literally let NC State sub out players. Take a breather. Get some fluids. And get ready for our play. Just awful. I was so mad. Whenever I see our all time wins list I think to myself "should be another one there". I think Reggie or PJ easily scores if we line up and run it, no time out

was a good athlete but not as a drop back passer due to his height..........still all of us make mistakes but fourth down vs ga is hard to discuss.thought Chan made him a starter to early and once he did no more qbs for three yrs

IDK about that. Those 03-06 teams had multiple NFL draft picks at RB, an NFL FB, multiple NFL TEs, the GOAT WR, multiple NFL draft pick OL. We haven’t been nearly as talented, outside of RB.
we had plenty of athletlels but Chan decided to be the play caller......that didnt work out well.

There was more wasted talent at Tech from 2003-2006 than at any other time because of two men: Chan Gailey and Reggie Ball

Flame away if you like, but put Godsey or Thomas or hell even Rick Strom (much less Hamilton or Jones) on that ‘06 team and we play for a NC. I was at the ACCCG, Ball‘s last game when we öööö the bed and lost to WF. I was at Provo, Ball’s first game. QB play was about the same. When Ball forgot where he was and ran out the back of the end zone against VT for a safety, he should have never played another down at Tech.

We wasted the greatest WR in college football history because we had no QB. Calvin should have won a Heisman and had his number retired. Why were so many of Calvin’s catches circus catches?

He can be a great Tech man, give his all on the field, etc. But that doesn’t change the fact he was a below average Tech QB. And Chan Gailey needed to be fired because he didn’t have the balls Paul Johnson did when he told Vad Lee to go play elsewhere.

You know who isn’t a Tech Man? Geoff Collins. öööö that guy.

Yeah, but his Wikipedia article is a series of self-dunks. :-)

“Collins won three games in each of his first three seasons with the Yellow Jackets, including famously losing to The Citadel, which ran the triple option that Collins has criticized. In 2021, Collins ended his losing streak to FCS opponents when Georgia Tech defeated Kennesaw State, a team who was playing with their fourth string quarterback after a series of unfortunate incidents befell all other eligible quarterbacks. Collins never won back to back games at Georgia Tech. Following a 1-3 start to the 2022 season, and being out scored 210-20 over the final 5 games of his tenure against FBS opponents, Collins was relieved of coaching duties by the Yellow Jackets.”

He has a personal hand in anything bad you can say about GT fandom over the last 3+ years.

So his Twitter handle is “Coach Collins”? That first part is both factually and metaphysically untrue.

Collins only won more than one game in a MONTH 1 time while at Tech. And the one time he did, it was 2 wins in a month with 1 being against KSU. He followed that up with a winless month later that season.
