Remainder of season…

It's the first darn game in a new system, y'all. Remember early the first year in CPJ's system?
Yep, and he beat the mutts that same year. That COULD happen this year too, whether it looks like it now or not. The game Friday night was not the end of this season, but the beginning. And it is definitely not the end of the world. Driving up from Augusta, as we neared Atlanta, there was a smallish truck in front of us that was apparently owned by some pickle company. On the back of the truck was signage saying, "Chill out and have a pickle." So if you ever see me post that remark, maybe you will remember this or this shortened version, "CHILL, DILL!!"

Holy smollies, if we beat the team out east this year there is no telling what I might do. We haven’t beaten them at home since I don’t know when. Actually 2001 I think

It was 1999, and Key was on the team. Before this season started, I actually was predicting we would beat them in Atlanta this year. Obviously Friday night lowered my expectations considerably, but now that I have cooled off and calmed down, I realize, like I posted, that this is the beginning, not the end, and ANYTHING can still happen. I obviously didn't watch the mutt game last night, but I did check the score at the half, and it was not impressive at all. They only had a 17 point lead at the half. Much like last year they struggled early on in many, if not all of their games. If that happens again this year against a decent opponent, Mike Booboo ain't gonna be able to pull them out of it the way Moncken was always able to do.

MAYBE a good reason for the poor defense is loss of key players. Brooks our best Saf, missed 2nd half.Sims, best CB ,was OUT.Douse ,best DL. didn't start--hurt?Sylvain,DE, missed 2nd half. These are the best players on DEF. hmmm.

The OLine is the most important unit in football. And we haven’t been good at that group in a long time which is why the team has not been good. We couldn’t even make it thru game 1 without OLine injuries coming into play. Its almost like maybe we should over recruit that position group.

This was my biggest concern with CBK. He had 4 years to recruit & coach his position, but here we are. It’s still the poorest position group we have, but not by much, as DL is right there as well.

Trying to remain positive about the future. In my mind, we now have coaches actually instilling experience, discipline, knowledge & strategy, so we are not an embarrassment like we were under clown.

We were terribly predictable the entire 2nd half. Very strange to see us trot out the same plays again & again.
Frustrating? Absolutely. Pointless? Maybe not. Go back and review our TD to Siefert (the new xfer TE). Specifically, take note of the two plays we ran before that: both (if I recall correctly) were runs up the gut. Then (again depending on my recollection), the TD play started out exactly like the two preceding plays and appeared at first to be attempt #3 to run right at them. Except it wasn't. The QB and TE pretty much had the entire left side of the field all to themselves for the easy pitch and catch.

I'm not sure if all the teeth-clenching attempts to run up the middle later in the game were trying to set up something similar but you gotta figure the two OC gurus we have calling the shots are not dumb enough to run a 185 pound guy straight into a tank line and think its gonna work.

It worked early and there is a chance we thought we were still playing chess and setting up the next move long after L'ville's DL said screw this and flipped the table over. I just have a hard time thinking how a staff smart enough to put FOUR touchdowns on the board in 15 minutes continued to work a game plan that L'Ville had, to their credit, completely figured out and stopped. Buster perhaps forgot that there are some material differences between the roster we got versus what he's had to work with in previous stints (I get it that he wasn't the OC at his prev job but still).

Who's the second?

QB & WR are fine but i dont see any improvement in the D. Getting to 5 wins will be difficult, esp with this D and dismal PK.
Lather, rinse, repeat for 2024 until I see a tangible reason to think otherwise. These are the same glaring weaknesses we've had for the past decade.
6-6 with wins over: SCST, BG, BC, UVA, Wake or CUSE, UNC or Miami

Weinke is more than a QB Coach. Sometimes, the Asst or Co- [Coordinator/Head Coach] title is more about an HR move to allow a pay raise above what would otherwise be a ceiling on a lesser title. Other times, a Coach gets the Asst or Co- [HC/OC/DC] title because they are, in fact, the Asst. HC/OC/DC. I believe this is the case with Wienke. He's listed as Co-Offensive Coordinator and I believe he, in fact, has the corresponding responsibilities of a Co-Coordinator.

I’m also trying to stay positive but knowing that our head coach and defensive coordinator have been here since the start of the previous regime doesn’t give me the warm and fuzzies. I’m pulling for them as I like them both as human beings, but our OLine and defense has been our biggest issues since they both have been GT coaches.

Offense looked ok - defense a little shaky - but overall the team looked good - move on and let’s kick the sh$t out of SC ST
