Dang I cant wait to see our new unis and to see the yellowjackets take the field under CPJ. Truely EXCITING times on the flats!
 
there is NO WAY we change our helmets, unless we go "throwback"...
 
Well, Tech has worn navy helmets in the past, so does that count as throwback as well?
 
I am so pumped. That place on the bridge of my nose has already started bleeding a little bit.

This just in (sic) Gloria Estefan, T.I., and Pitbull to do halftime of the Miami Thurs. night game. It will be true GT-DANRAD hospitality. Gloria will enter on the shoulders of 4 flaming, S. Beach Cuban-Americans. (We got the Cubans through old flagboy connections. That is what he likes to smoke.)
 
Well, Robert Lee's last unis featured a White hat, White shirt, and Gold pants, but I think Gold/White/Gold would look better. Or White/Gold/White.

Blue hats just doesn't seem right.

But beating ugag is more important than anything, so let the coaches, players, and DRad design as they will.

CPJ is leading us to new heights. Vision, Faith, Direction and Discipline.
 
Again this posts is from the players perspective like Ish said and not the final say, a final decision has not been made yet on uniforms.

Blue helmets aren't happening. I would be absolutely SHOCKED.

Now blue jerseys are a definite possibility.

Tech wore blue under Dodd in his first year (1945) and Tech actually wore blue helmets some during the '40s. Dodd had Tech in blue many times in the '40s and '50s. In the '50s, blue was worn on the road when other schools wanted to wear white at home."

Sounds like he knows what he's talking about. I'd still like to see pics, though.
 
I've never heard of us wearing blue helmets, and I really hope we never do, but here's a site that's tried to document every team's helmets:

Their records only go back to 1960 for what looks like every team, so before that I guess it's possible.

Would that have been navy blue leather then? ;)

I believe it's Jimmy Southards' son who has stuff from when his dad played that has posted some of this on the Hive. There's no question it's true from what I've seen on a number of sites FWIW. Just pointing out that what we think of as tradition isn't always the way we like to remember. To me, Tech is still the team I grew up watching in the late 60s, with Kim King wearing the white helments with either gold jerseys/white pants or white jerseys/gold pants.

I figure we'll lose either VT or BC, but probably not both. That puts us at 5-1 and ranked going into the Clempsun game, which will be nationally televised. That's a good launching platform for the rest of the season, if we can beat Clempsun.

I like that we get so many patsie practice games early to fine tune our offense.

I don't know what the coaching staff or administrators have to say about the issue (or those all-powerful alumni) but I do know that the results are in from the players in regards to what we're wearing.

first of all the players nixed the "new" Russell designs in favor of the traditional ones we've been wearing. I believe the material may be new, though. That being said here is what I have gathered:

-The yellow/green color we've been wearing over the past 6 years has been nixed and replaced with "OLD GOLD" (yes, the color of the throwback uni's we wore).
-Looks like we're wearing white at home and white on the road this year with the pants being the "old gold". (awesome, imo, because gold pants/white jerseys look amazing to me)
-Blue jerseys and "OLD GOLD" jerseys will be kept for special occasions.
-Also will have blue pants just for the sake of having them if we want to do something crazy.
-don't know if we want black or white cleats

We're having an issue deciding on what helmets to have. Like I said we're going with the "OLD GOLD" color so the traditional gold helmet won't exactly go with that. And if we're wearing white jerseys at home, a white helmet would look weird. A Blue helmet is not out of the question, at least with the gold pants/white jersey combo.

btw- got a look at the 2008 schedule. We've got a huge Thursday night game, any guesses?

If by "old gold" you mean not the gold of FSU pants, and not the gold of Notre Dame pants, and not the gold of UCLA pants......then I'm in.
Got any swatches you can display?
 
The people that came up with FSU's helmet designs in the past must have been stoned!

The plus sign and the one with the indian face looks like a child did it. :laugher::laugher::laugher::laugher::laugher:

I've been wrong before, but I'm pretty sure were going with white jerseys as our main uniform for both home and away when we're not dusting off the blue and throwbacks.

Since we are going all the way U.S. Naval Academy motif, does that mean the rats....urrrr plebes...will be in Service Dress Blue for the games?

What is the "past" that you have in mind here?

I seem to recall that it was quite hard to get that leather to accept the blue dye without creating quite a mess when it rained. -)
 
White helmets on white jerseys looked pretty good on Kim King/Lenny Snow & company!
 
There's a thread on the Hive that talks about the 40s and 50s for blue jerseys. Not sure where in there the blue helmets surfaced.
