Rivals reporting a commitment...

Re: Mike Cox

He lives in Knoxville, he has kids in school in Knoxville, he is close friends with Fulmer, knows the coaching staff. Speculation is that it would be a good fit for him to prove that he is fit to coach again and help his good friend and UT out in the meantime.

There was something more to him leaving ND than a heart condition.

Contact do you know this or just speculating?

Speculation, of course. Some Notre Dame fans (these people are such conspiracy theorists) think he left because he didn't have the freedom there to bend the rules (school and NCAA).

That is ridiculous because he would've known about ND before taking the job. I think it was some sort of personality conflict with Weis - Cutcliffe wouldn't have gotten enough credit for the success of the offense OR Weis just wasn't going to give him enough control of the offense.

Family has little to do with it or he wouldn't have accepted the job in the first place.

My boss is a ND fan - I get to hear it every day.

I think having a triple bypass and having to miss a significant part of practice and recruiting is a lot more obvious than a conspiracy....

[/ QUOTE ] Then why accept a job and resign a week later? Triple bypass surgeries aren't that unexpected.

Actually, they can be. I've known several people who were feeling just a bit off-color and went in for checkups. In cases where the doctors found blockage, they often did bypass surgery the next day.

It could\'ve easily been found in a Notre Dame

requested physical.

Notre Dame may have 'saved' his life for all we know.

Re: Mike Cox
