Wasn’t this supposed to be Roof’s best defense? I suppose it’s all downhill from here.

ThatI think it was VT’s worst offensive performance. But yeah, disregard the good. Grab a pitchfork and your lynchmob and run him out of town

Can fairies stop UGA? If so get us some of those too.
I think our entire DLine is made up of fairies
I’ve never seen a d line get so caught up by the O-line as ours. They run straight to the guy in front of them and lock up. They are using swim moves, spins, or anything else to try to get to the backfield. It’s been immensely frustrating.

I’ve tried looking at this from a few different angles this morning and I just can’t come up with any reason why a team that lost to friggin Army was able to decimate our defense.
The kids have played decently overall on defense this year, so I think their poor performance against Duke can only be blamed on the coaches not getting them ready to play and not being able to adjust during the game.
Hopefully this will light a fire for COFH. The good news is that UGA doesn’t run a spread option. The bad news is that they will be trying to hit the outside with their running game the way Duke did.
wow, amazing statsFor anyone who says our D looks better this year, consider the offenses we've faced this year fell off pretty considerably compared to last year.
Points per game (national ranking in brackets). First set of numbers is 2016. Second is from this year.
Clemson 39 [14], 32 [38]
Pitt 40 [10], 25 [91]
VT 35 [33], 32 [46]
Duke 23 [111], 23 [101]
UNC 32 [44], 23 [107]
UVA 23 [115], 25 [85]
Miami 34 [37], 32 [39]
Tennessee 36 [24] , 20 [119]
Roof still sucks.
Or maybe a bunch of teams' defenses got better. For anyone who says our D looks better this year, consider the offenses we've faced this year fell off pretty considerably compared to last year.

It is Roof's best defense. And probably the best defense we've had since CPJ got here.

This has to be one of the top 3 most disappointing losses in the CPJ Era.. .

It was horrific. This has to be one of the top 3 most disappointing losses in the CPJ era, and the worst performance in Roof's tenure here. I am very much a Roof-supporter and a luke-warm CPJ backer, but I have zero defense for either guy. I guess everyone has a bad day at the office once in a while but this is a program damaging loss where alumni/boosters become completely disinterested in the product and could care less about the rest of the season.
OK, I'll buy that.. in which case those offenses are regressing to the mean? No. Most schools on that list lost either their NFL caliber QB or 3 to 4 year starter so the offenses in the conference took a step back. The ACC had some incredible QB talent last year.

Yup. We were their six-in-a-row slumpbuster and got destroyed like a homecoming cupcakeIt was horrific.
