Roof to NC State

Yeah as the blind man said, the second half sealed Roof’s fate in my mind. It was clear he had the guys he needed, good guys, and the regression in the second half of the season was really, really bad.

It was like he didn’t know how to coach the defense at all. Playing the corners soft, or not putting any pressure on the QB and killing his DBs. Like the dude didn’t know how to blitz at all.

Yeah that's bs. You're Roof fan number 1.

It's a demotion. Pretty sure he was told to look for a job so we wont have to fire him.

How is being named associate head coach a demotion? Serious question. Co-defensive coordinator can maybe be seen as a demotion; but they went to the trouble of adding the associate HC title. It doesn't sound like the move of a guy who just got fired.

Merry Christmas, y’all!!!

Oh happy day.

Tech is free of that ööööing loser.

I could not disagree more. Ted Roof is a fine former player and a GT grad. He is a credit to our school and a nice guy. His son came to play football for us. He coached for us on two different occasions. There were many good wins. It is one thing to critique his defense. I certainly felt his two minute defense lacked the necessary aggressiveness to keep folks from scoring. But, there is no need to critique Ted as a person. I am proud of what he has meant to Georgia Tech.

You think NC State will pay him 750K to be a co-defensive coordinator? They pay their head coach 1.8mil.

Edit: Dave Huxtable gets paid 565k. Roof 2017 salary was 800k.

He wasn’t fired. I’m sure he was encouraged to look elsewhere though.

I think this is a mutual good move.
