Roof to NC State

The beginning of the end for our great coach Paul: 8 wins or more next year or we get a fresh start. Any of you that think this app state guy is some savior have been hitting the eggnog to hard tonight ...would love to be wrong but this just makes things easier next year when everything blows up
Unless one of you is ready to write some big checks Paul isn’t going anywhere no matter what the record is.

Tough schedule next year.

Outside ACC Coastal, we have Clemson, at Louisville, at USF (9-2), at uga.

Thought we might have a quiet offseason, but evidently not. Will be interested to see where Stansbury looks. Biggest hire of his early tenure here at Tech.
I believe head coaches hire assistants, not the AD. The AD just has to pass off.

The grass is always greener :ughthumb:

Change was needed for sure but if Roof was willing to accept a demotion or share his title then he didn't need to go elsewhere to get it. Guess it was a pride thing or friction with the boss

I felt he improved both the defense and the recruiting for it, but seemed hit the talent ceiling anyway. He's the best Johnson has had. His defenses hit hard, seemed solid fundamentally, and were very rarely embarrassed. Ultimately it's not about him, it's about quality players. Wommack looked pretty smart once he had Ole Miss's roster. Groh wasn't exactly a dummy.

Johnson needs to find someone like Tenuta. Yeah, yeah, I know--by that I mean someone who brings in an unorthodox approach the way Johnson does on the other side of the ball. Not necessarily blitz-heavy, but just something that negates the athletic differences. It's either that or figure out a way to recruit much better on that side. Coastal division isn't getting any easier.

Are you serious?

I don't think he has to do even that. Stansbury may ask PJ what he wants in a DC. It is up to Stansbury to find the money for the right candidate. But I think the DC and the additional coach are up to PJ, period.
