Roquan smith to UCLA #mutthurt

the NCAA needs to make some kind of rule where coaching changes need to be made public before signing day. the lying to the kids for the sake of the class stuff is malarky

That and better school than the others.

The quality of a Michigan education, like many of the enormous Big 10 state schools, depends heavily on major. This is different than a GT, for example, where the school is impressive independent of major (because of the far fewer majors).

If Michigan is going to force him into a major like General Studies, Kinesiology, or Sociology, then UCLA is the better school. Business, Economics, Engineering, etc., then Michigan is the better school.

ucla, uga, michigan, usc and a&m?

I'd go to michigan.

he could go to usc if he liked L.A. so much. But then bruinhurt will probably peak.

Among those I'd go to Southern Cal, Michigan or USC. Those three are truly great schools (although you'd want to be careful about which major).

UCLA, USC, and Michigan all give you the ability to get an upper echelon education (major depending). Next on the list is UGA, then A&M. It sounds like it comes down to his coach more than his school, though.

He can probably make more money in the Autograph trade at UGA though.

I am thinking Chavais at aTm will influence him now. And, yes, I think picking the school over a certain coach is more important. I remember quite a few guys I knew being very hurt when Dodd retired. But these kids need to realize people get promotions, get sick, and retire.

It is also true this kid could get a good degree at any school on his list. That is 100% up to him.

I've heard that USC is supposedly stronger in academics than UCLA, but I'm not sure of the credibility of my source (classmate from L.A.).

Who cares. I hate both schools anyways.

But these kids need to realize people get promotions, get sick, and retire.

Kids do realize that, but these coaches are in some cases directly lying to the kids in order to get them to sign when the coaches know they are on their way out the door.

this is EXACTLY why we need minor leagues for football. These kids don't give a öööö about getting a degree from a university. It is absurd to make a kid go to college so he can play in the NFL.

I guess we will do this dog and pony show for a while longer but I predict minor league football with/in ten years and this will be good for colleges.

The UNC debacle is a classic example of what happens when you FORCE someone to be a student.

This is the ultimate solution. Problem is, colleges are hooked on the $$

Yeah, what could possibly go wrong with more NCAA rules?

Well a lot of these colleges don't care about these kids getting degrees.

Yep.

I got in an argument recently about whether or not colleges should be allowed to let kids "major in football." I was pretty righteously carrying the "No" argument for a while, until someone said, "Yeah, but the liberal arts degrees they do get now are just as worthless anyway."

I didn't have a good retort. Because that's right.

It's not in most areas (film excluded). However, because it's private, USCw always outranks UCLA on the USNews rankings (which is the academic equivalent of recruit rankings in terms of accuracy and integrity)

Actually, this is more about the NFL. What reason does the NFL have to build a minor league system that could cost them money? They get all of the benefit of a minor league system without any of the effort. If someone is highly touted out of high school and flames out in college, they have had to put nothing down to make that scouting report.

Because winter is the only season amirite?

I'm sure he would really look forward to those two a days in Georgia summers.

That one season is enough to make people not want to spend 4 years of their life there
