Rumor is Renfree told Rad he would not come here....

Let's stay positive about Mr. Renfree, even if he decommits. PJ will have until signing day to talk with Renfree about running his offense. If its meant to be it will work out. If the young man is not suited for running an option offense, we should have no ill will toward him for signing with a team that suits him. We are the ones who changed coaches on him and on this class.

Beginning with next year's class - believe me, there are more "athletes" playing QB in high school running spread offenses, flexbones, and other similar offenses. It will be easier to recruit athletes to run PJ's system than to recruit drop back QB's. And when you give an athletic QB his chance to compete and he does not make the grade, the athlete can help you at other positions in ways the drop back QB can't. This is why once a drop back QB in Chan's preferred style didn't win the job, they were quick to transfer.

Maybe Threet wasn't as good as we thought. He probably realized he couldn't cut it above Bennett and Nesbitt. Now, he's not even playing at Michigan.

Well put. I agree completely. If Renfree doesn't feel this is the system he wants to work in (and I'm sure PJ will tell Renfree how he will be used), then it is beneficial for both of us. However, that being said, I do hope that Renfree realizes PJ could do good things with him under center

Well, yeah. He's ineligible to play this year.

Though I don't think their depth chart stacks up that well for Threet.
 
There were also 4 scholarship QBs before he transferred there. Sure, Michigan isn't the best school for QBs out there, but are we really good enough that one of our backups should transfer to Michigan and play for them? It actually says something good about our recruiting that they offered him a scholarship at all.
 
Its safe to say Sean will not be attending GT, he has already notified the staff of his decision.

Not yet, these next few days are very important. The staff already in place (Giff, Liam) combined with PJ will be working the phones and visiting the current commits to make sure they want to stay with GT.

I just have trouble believing this rumor at all. First of all, how does a rumor like that "get out". Was someone on the phone? After all of the telephone game stuff that goes on, it would be very easy to see how Renfree saying something like, "I'll need to speak with any new coach before I confirm my commitment," could turn into something like what you posted.

I certainly understand if there were internal discussions about which recruits would stay given the choice of Johnson, but I have a serious problem believing that Rad would (a) tell a recruit who the top choice is, considering how secret it is; and (b) that Rad even talked to Renfree after Johnson was identified as a candidate! In fact, Rad called all of the recruits after Chan was fired, a full 5 days before Johnson was a serious candidate.

All a rumor, if you ask me.....just doesn't add up.

believe what you want. Rad personally called EVERY recruit after firing gailey. He didn't tell Sean who is coach was. Sean probably just mentioned it as a matter of fact; like "hey lets see who it is but if its a guy like PJ I probably won't come here"

don't believe. Oh...other places are reporting this same "rumor"

Its funny how folks will believe and drivel the "insiders" on scout will throw out b/c you pay $10 a month, but someone on another board must mean its crap. FYI, those scout insiders I know personally and are just fans like you and I. In fact the AA largely considers them pains in the arses. None of them have inside tracks any better than a few of us; and none them work at the AA and certianly NONE of them are dem.

maybe dem, and a few others should start charging. Will that validate it?
