rumor mill

The title of this thread is 'rumor mill'. Just throwing stuff in this one. But the statement stands: O'Leary before Ross.

O'Leary will be next HC for Vikings, after about one more season. Tech's next HC will be Glenn Spencer. No downside to him. He will be a great choice whenever a change is made.

I find it ironic that in defense of the current coach who has done nothing for this program yet and has caused so much negativity amongst fans, money contributors, that some choose to completely knockdown our former coaches who brought much success here.

In one short year the positive coaches who brought us back to prominence are having to be defended because this coach has made this program the butt of negativity by many, many more fans who don't come to this board. Why would anyone question the successes of those who have gone before him in order to defend something that hasn't happened yet and looks horrible in trying!

What is it that Chan does that makes others want to tear apart the good things that happened before? What is it that Chan communicates that makes anyone cultivate negativity towards the inviduals that we were so proud to have before, that made our program what all of us wanted it to be?

The tearing apart of the 'good years' because this coach is a failure and looks to be nothing but a paper tiger is mindboggling to me! I've seen more nonsense and negativity about the men who played such an important role in filling the stadium, in putting a good product on the field, in making happen what coaches are hired for and yet because Chan has been here only ONE YEAR, the defense of his 2002 antics is defended while tearing apart those who made their positive mark!

I couldn't be happier that Bobby Ross and George O'Leary came this way and would never question their contributions to this school and it's football program. To tear them apart in defense of a coach who has alienated a fan base, who has not fielded a good product, who has not done his job, is sad, upsetting and devisive!

Very, very good question MsTA... I think the answer is that the defenders of Bill Lewis-gailey don't have much ammunition to fire... So they are flailing around, regurgitating hollow, sour, arguments...

They are adrift at sea in the Bill Lewis-gailey life raft, attempting to reach up to the yachts that are Coach George O'Leary & Coach Bobby Ross & rather than get into the yachts, they are futiling attempting to pull these yachts down with them, so as to make the life raft appear to be a safe & viable haven...

MsTA, I don't know where you're coming from. I saw one post that could be considered negative IMO. For example, I simply said that it took Ross a couple of years to get things going. Is that tearing him down? There are several comments that O'Leary won't be coming back, but I don't think they were tearing anything down. Personally I loved Ross and was devastated when he left. I also liked George and wasn't happy at all when he left. But I don't really want either back. Bobby due to his health problems and doubts that he can do what he once could, and George because the wound is too fresh. They both did great things for Tech.

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">I feel exactly the same way, ncj, especially re Bobby. He and O'L both saw GT's possibilities and worked to get in position to make the most of them. Bobby had the luck of not having to play FSU,which George had to do. Gailey is doing the same thing, but he's in an even tougher position than O'L: the ACC gets tougher and tougher.

It mystifies me that people want to bash our coaches, past or present.

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">I was not being specific to this thread - I was taking into consideration the many postings over the last year plus. I wasn't singling out any one person - to me it's a theme for defending Chan and thus to tear down those who were successful before him. I really am disappointed that when looking back we (everyone) take into consideration the contributions that so positively made our programs succeed with those coaches - it's been prevalent since Chan's entry onto this campus, and I find it ironic that anyone would defend him by making those before him look bad when they did good!

MsTech, are you really surprised that the circumstances around O'Leary's departure left a bad taste in everybody's mouth? Are you really surprised that ahso and others have pointed out that O'Leary was not Knute Rockne in the face of you and Beeware and others relentlessly bashing CG? You seem to want us to worship GO'L forever. Forget it. He was our coach, we had some good times under him, and now he's gone. Get over it.

We are now interested to see if our current coach can cope with the GT situation. If he can't, and is gone, we'll thank him for Tony Hollings, a couple of good victories, some recruits, and THEN we'll move on to support the next guy.

MsTA, you and BeeBad are the problems, not us. I have stated on many occasions, I would not bring up O'Leary, O'Brien, Mac, etc. unless you wanted to compare them with Gailey and use them to bash Gailey.

So, if you continue to bash Gailey, I will continue to show the facts that should give him the same fair chance to succeed that O'Leary and every other coach should have.

Look inward, you "are" the problem, not the one's of us trying to give a coach a fair shake.

This is an open board where people debate. If you don't want debate, then don't bring up a debatable subject. It is very simple.
