Schools with a harder OOC schedule than Tech?

Ole Miss, UCF & Mutts?

I know many of you are drooling at the mouth for losses but wtf…. Why did we do this? Throw in Clemson and this is BS!

Can we compile a list here….thanks
Kind of early to make excuses for Collins, give him a chance to win these games.

Collins started making his own excuses before he even showed up to a practice as a coach.

I’m sure he is lining up his talking points up this year too:
-Youngest team in the acc; least returning staters
-E-lite schedule is the hardest in the nation
-Unprecedented transfer portal losses; including a Heisman trophy winning by running back our developmental program built for Alabama
-New coaching staff; new systems
-Only 5 home games at Bobby Dodd stadium

Interesting that you pick 2015 as the inflection point for Clemson. They were #5 when we skull ööööed them in 2011 - the start of their 10+ win / season streak. We were competitive with them 2011-2014 beating them twice. They were 40-9 against other teams over that stretch.

You’re correct that they weren’t National title
Contenders until 2015, but I think that glosses over part of the story.
Oh my bad. Please point me to the year where Clemson began a run of playing in the national championship game 3 of the next 4 years.
I picked 2015 because that was the year they went to the national championship game for the first time. But you do you and keep acting like it's some grand conspiracy.

Compare ours to the mutts they have 3-4 garunteed wins we have 1 some bias I think not

Dude, we are the Notre Dame of the South!

If we were good, we would be salivating over the opportunity to play and beat the best of the best.

But because we suck, all the "rejoin the SEC - why did we ever leave the SEC?? people now complain about our tough schedule.

Not you, specifically but in general, Tech fans are among the stupidest fans in college football.
Maybe not the stupidest, but certainly the worst. See the season ticket renewal thread for proof.

The ACC was weak under Johnson; then this school called Clemson emerged as a NC contender in 2015 and barely lost to Bama for a NC. Clemson didn't lose to Tech from 2015 - 2018 once they reached that level and, during that time, Kirby Smart built the dwags into a national championship contender as well.

Talk all the crap you want but having to play Clemson & UGA every year, with their programs at the level they are, is a tough row to hoe for any team. Throw in UCF and Ole Miss as OOC games for us this year and the schedule wouldn't be doing any Tech coach a favor.
BS...The problem is we went from a HOF Coach to a coach who just can't coach.... The issue is not the schedule, the issue is the coaching!

What difference does it make what kind of schedule we have, when we lose to teams like Northern Illinois every year? If we only scheduled teams from weak non-power five conferences, we would lose just as many games as we do now, and it would be even more humiliating. Besides, we are already in the weakest conference imaginable. For any decent team, most of the teams we play would be considered cup cakes and losing to them would get the coach fired. But, at least almost nobody is watching us humiliate ourselves, either in person or on TV.

Why would I "throw in Clemson?" They are IN CONFERENCE. And if you want to "throw in" IN CONFERENCE opponents then Tech's schedule isn't even among the 25 toughest. And independent Notre Dame and independent BYU both have schedules much tougher than Tech's.

Basically we have two P5 schools, a G5 school, and an FBS school for OOC. Fairly standard. Mississippi appears to be on an upswing now. But schedules are made in advance. Pretty hard to predict in advance that Ol Miss would be any good when they did not have a single winning season in five years from 2016 through 2020.

Because Clemson is the toughest cross division opponent in the conference dumbass

So what, moron? Your own title is about OOC. Can you even read or remember WTF you write? If you want to start discussing schedules with tough cross division opponents, then let's toss in the Big Fourteen and SEC teams and take a look at what some of them face for comparison.

Now that PressManCoverageMan is gone, are you in some kind of secret competition to become the dumbest ööööing poster here? Because if you are . . . winning!

Looks like somebody’s off his meds again.

Always a fun exercise to compare our schedule against other ACC teams.

Temple
Northwestern
NC A&T
Kansas
Virginia
GT
UNC
Miami
BC
VT
Pitt
WF

The permanent rivalry games do us no favors when it's hard for us to consider each other rivals given the current state of our program. Last year might be a sign that Clemson is coming back down to earth, but if I were AD, I would be lobbying the ACC for some relief and I sure as hell wouldn't have ever signed us up to play a school like UCF.
Doesn’t say, but guess this is Duke’s schedule?

This isn't talked about enough and is really hurting CGC so far in my opinion. It is ridiculous to have such a strong OOC schedule when we are trying to become relevant again. We need to replace games like UCF and Ole Miss with smaller schools like The Citadel and Northern Illinois. I know they aren't nearly as interesting to play but the guaranteed wins are simply worth the tradeoff for our program at this point in time.

Actually, if you want interesting OOC matchups, why not schedule Temple? I know it's no trip to The Grove, but it's always a good storyline to see a coach play his old school, and again, we could use some easier matchups to get us back into a bowl.
