Schools with a harder OOC schedule than Tech?

As I was saying……

3rd hardest schedule in the land

~ Tech the only non SEC team in the top 9
~ Miami next toughest in the ACC Coastal at 33rd
~ UGA 13th toughest in the SEC
~ UGA 6th toughest in the SEC East

This is just another indication of how incompetent our AD's have been. Hopefully, we will hire a new AD before the end of this year. We need to spend whatever it takes to hire the best AD we can find. A good AD will lead to good coaches.

Every team in the SEC has the toughest schedule because they are in the SEC. The only reason, we are on the list is because we play two SEC teams.

Our other eleven games could be against MAC teams and we'd still be on the list.

I’m not willing to say the AD is incompetent because we booked a tough schedule. We used to be able to compete against just about anybody, and took some pride in a “we’ll play anybody anywhere” mentality. I’d rather have that than some weak-ass VPI-level schedule where we duck everybody and still lose to William & Mary.

The problem is that we can’t compete against anybody anymore - like somebody said, every schedule is hard when you suck.

I'd rather play good teams that are nationally known than a bunch of cupcakes. If y'all want to play citadel more, go ask our AD. Otherwise, quit bitching when we have good names on our schedule.

Math is fun. This got me looking a little closer at the SEC and Tech.

UGA(g) at 13th in the SEC, and 6th in the East, makes sense, since the rest of the East has to play them (all at the bottom of the SEC FPI), plus they get Miss St which is next to last in the West.

So, what if we were in the SEC East with our current schedule - UGA & Ole Miss are conference games and we keep Clemson out of conference (along with UCF and WKU). Swapping Coastal opponents for SEC East:

UNC (FPI 22)/KY (20)
Pitt (9)/UF (18)
Duke (102)/Vandy (103)
UVA (54)/Mizzou (55)
FSU (31)/USCe (47)
Miami (18)/Ole Miss (17)
UGA(g) (3)/UGA(g) (3)
VPISU (74)/Ark (29) - Highest SEC-W FPI (otherwise 1, 10, 11, 24)

Two ACC teams with higher FPI than us versus one in the SEC, but eight games that are an equal swap (incl. Clemson, WKU and UCF). UF and USCe get marginally easier. Thanks Hokies.

That leaves us to book one OOC game due to Ole Miss moving to in conference. To get back to our SOS we would have to take on someone higher than 38 FPI (Iowa), not likely, or worst case (w/Bama included) 66 FPI (Indiana, we are 67). We're more likely play someone even less - FCS, UConn, Temple. So, our SOS would move lower, but not out of the top ten.

The SEC has 11 teams in the Top 30 FPI. We would play four, plus Clemson.
The ACC has 6 teams in the Top 30. We play four, plus Ole Miss and UGA(g).
The B1G and Big 12 have 5 teams. PAC 12 has 2. And Notre Dame.

This. This is the type of schedule we should be playing every year but it hurts really bad when we suck
