Scott Frost fired

Seems that one or more boosters decided to let their emotions control their wallets.
Let’s see how their coaching search, and eventual hire, compares to ours when Tech finally fires our even more incompetent coach. Then compare programs again.

Well, CGG moves to 2nd place on hot seat list. He should be #1.

He can be put on paid administrative leave & fired after buy out drops.

So dumb to fire him 3 weeks early.

In a way it may be "dumb." But, at least Nebraska made a statement to its fans and the football world that it cares about football and is committed to winning. That may be worth $7.5 million dollars by the time you factor in things like fan support, attendance, product sales, morale, public relations, advertising, recruiting, retention, good will, etc.

If Frost gets another coaching job, he may do great. Sometimes, when you go to a place you care a lot about, you try so hard that you just don't do as good as you usually would. In a way, in spite of all the money he got, I still feel sorry for him, but I think Nebraska made an important statement for its fans.

Are we really sure they actually paid the buyout? It seems like a really obvious negotiation to get it way down in short-term situations like this- "hey Scott, we'll give you an extra million to leave now, or we can wait 3 weeks and you don't get anything extra while you're in an extremely embarrassing lame-duck situation on national TV every week." What exactly is he going to say?

I don’t feel sorry for him. He made millions and was probably one of the most inept coaches in the power 5.

Maybe if Frost had convinced his OC to leave Orlando & go to Lincoln with him....... but then Josh Heupel wouldn't be HFC at Tennessee now.
Heupel did not work for Frost. Heupel was the OC at Mizzou and UCF hired him to replace Frost. Of interest, the UCF AD who hired Heupel was Danny White. UT then hired Danny White to take over as AD and his first big coaching move was to bring Heupel to Knoxville. I wasn't a fan at the time but looks like a good decision so far.

As I'm getting older I'm starting to realize that good coaches are made by good Athletic Departments. It's the only reason that makes sense when you see things like Scott Frosts situation. It's hard for the best coach to thrive in a bad environment. That's why just firing Collins will not help no matter who the next coach is. Need to fix the entire AD.

Fwiw that's why it's so important to fire ADTS. The new guy needs to come in and clean house off basically everyone. It's been a stagnant organization for a decade or so.
