Scouting UVA

Here's why I think we win:

Our offense is better than theirs, their defense is better than ours BUT it's all about match-ups. To put it in a more bite-sized context: our offense is better than theirs because their offense is pretty bad and ours is good. Their defense is better than ours because our defense is terrible and theirs is less bad.

Run offense vs their defense: +72
Pass offense vs their defense: +17
Run defense vs their offense: -27
Pass defense vs their offense: -19

Their offense is worse than average, but is particularly inept at attacking our weakness (run game) so our defense should give up less points than our average (31.75).

Their defense is slightly worse than average, but is susceptible to the run game which means things are skewed heavily in our favor after that statistical anomaly of a 4th quarter last week. We should perform above our average (31.8).

Should is a relative concept, though, and I think they're an incredibly dangerous opponent playing much better football than their record indicates. I think our players are tired of the "never win 2 in a row" narrative and will demonstrate sufficiently more will to win than an opponent who is effectively eliminated from bowl eligibility. We win a shootout where both defenses are outclassed.

I’m really scared about this game. The more I think about it the more worried I am. I hope the players have finally learned their lesson.

This team has had a taste of what it's like to play hard for 4 quarters and pull out a hard fought win and a taste of what it's like to half-ass it and get embarrassed.

We'll find out Saturday which taste they want to carry around with them going forward.

Offensively, we should score 40+

I get worried about the defense, but they hella stepped up in the 4th last week.

With our WR's and Smith running like a madman, which in turn make the QB keeper option work, we should drill them.

We have a ööööload more talent on our offense than they do on their defense.

instead of loud and intimidating crowds.. uva has a small quiet stadium and a slow fight song that they use to lull opponents to sleep.. i gotta say its worked for them against us

Such a thing has worked against us a couple times already this season.
