Shoot the messenger all you want…

That’s not what the coaches said about practice. Evidently he’s the best we’ve got. I will say, he had an apathetic look on his face the whole game .
But that assumes our coaches have a clue.

If that’s you way you interpret an age old expression of “ don’t be mad at the person delivering a communication “ roll with it. For clarity, I don’t want to be shot and thought a GT message board would be a place where folks might be educated on such a colloquialism. Now that I see that’s not the case I’ll speak more simply and directly.
Wait. Let me get this straight - you believe we all will have 100% maturity while including in the fact that this message board is on the internet, our team having a grand total of 10 wins in 3+ seasons, while we all are getting pantsed by captain doofus, and you then posting an article putting one of our players on blast. Mind you, a player that continues to put on the white and gold and bust his ass week in and week out and also represents the Institute well with no issues in which I am aware.

We can certainly have mature conversations around here but it is best if you find a better avenue to critique a QB than posting an article from some chump that not only doesn't know the name of his Alma Mater but then spent extra money and years to get a master's degree in journalism from our hated rival and now writes for a rag whose biggest claim to fame was it's yearly titty issue that even they have somehow managed to öööö up.

In the end, don't worry my guy. No one will literally shoot you and I am sure we can all even be friends if meeting in person because, after all, we are Tech fans, right? Just don't expect us all to give you hi-fives when you talk öööö about one of our guys on a message board for all to see...

Ignore the SPSU grad. He's colloquially known as the village idiot.

Ignore Bainbridge. They marry first cousins and sisters down there. Makes for a hell of a swimming team with the gills and webbed feet

Definitely agree with the QB & WR/TE grades.

Don't tell the juice crew that we've recruited poorly since CPJ left. Next coach is going to have to be given time to rebuild the roster whether we go back to option or not.

Most of the replies in this thread simply can't handle the truth.

I think Sims has raw talent. I think he is fast and has the basic skills. However; what he lacks is football IQ. He has not received very good coaching, in my opinion. Whether Sims isn't listening and just cannot apply his skills or our coaches just can't coach, is debatable. Regardless of the reason, the end result is the same. We have a QB that locks on to single targets. We have a QB, that has poor field awareness. We have a QB, that doesn't understand defenses. We have a QB that lacks that ability to throw, with accuracy. From my perspective, they need to scrap Sims. However; I can't say the next one in line, will do any better.

It was wcu, 17 attempts and only 3 in the 2nd half probably says more about the opponent and how the staff took this short week than anything else

The fact that we only threw three passes in the second half contrasts poorly with Clemson in the second half against us.

With that game out of reach, Dabo took the opportunity to get his backup QB meaningful reps in a game situation. With us leading WCU by a decent amount in the second half, we either didn't think our QB who is still trying to fulfill his potential needed extra reps to work on his passing game -- or we were worried that giving him those reps risked losing the lead.

Either way is not encouraging. There aren't likely to be many more easy games where we can work on passing with a comfortable lead in hand.

What is the OP’s obsession with Sims? Whether you think he’s cutting it or not, he’s the best we got. What’s the desired end-game of these complaints?
He wants attaboys. We have always had posters who have waited for bad times so they can öööö on everything and feel superior to the rest of the fandom. He is one of those

My assumption is that Clemson provided the O plenty of practice with the passing game, and the second half against WCU provided the same opportunity for the running game. Long appeared to stop trying to set up runs with passes, so I'm guessing Collins told him to just run the ball and see if the team could close out the game on the ground. Unfortunately, we didn't and don't think we can.

Very concerned about this team's ability to hold a lead in the 4th. Yes, that means I think we will be in that situation a few times this year. I believe Long will put points on the board, but this isn't a Friedgen-type offense that can score any time they want. The D might be better than last year, but that ain't hard to do. If we can't run out a clock, we will be giving the ball back a lot late in the game.
