All you need to know.... Paul Johnson was crushed on the boards for this.... The writing is on the wall since Deuce Deuce left. Collins will have one hail mary season. He won't do appreciably better. He and the entire staff will be fired. And then Deuce Deuce may very well be made head coach.

You’re a little ambiguous here. What was Johnson crushed for? Signing a small class?

Does anyone else ignore the quotes made by Collins? It’s the same kind of language every time he talks. Never any real substance.

LOL Johnson signed small classes because he didn't recruit well. We have signed a small class (and did last year also) because of COVID and not having enough roster spots. We plan to take a few transfers too but transfers + HS signees will still only be able to add up to about 21-22ish because that's all the spots we have available.

This recruiting year isn’t normal. This is the first year the portal entrants don’t have to sit out a year and we still have the COVID holdovers. Many schools are taking a wait and see approach and not signing many high school kids. For example in the Class of 2019 ACC schools signed 298 high school kids to scholarships. Yesterday they signed 203. Yes there is another signing day but in years past it was used to sign the last couple of kids that didn’t sign on early signing day.

Comparisons to previous years aren’t valid.

There's lots of valid reasons to criticize CGC, we don't have to fabricate them like this.

This is the early signing period. National Signing Day is still February if I'm not mistaken.

Our average star rating is still very strong (for us). Have we ever signed this many four-stars?? I don't know but it has to be at least *near* the most ever. If the goal is just to be higher in recruiting rankings, the staff could have easily done that by adding more 3 stars, since the rankings reward quantity. Objectively, that wouldn't be a positive.

If we don't have a full scholarship roster in February NSD (save for 1-2 senior walkons, which I think we'd all agree with), including transfers, then you're talking about a valid complaint. Right now this is nonsense.

There's a pretty clear difference in how the recruiting services rate our recruits the past few years versus the previous years.

Knock the on-field results all you want, the criticism is completely valid. If we're solely looking at the athletes we're brining in, it's been a step change in a positive direction. You can debate how much of it is the head coach versus the offense versus additional resources all you want. It's probably some of each.

The fact remains that this is a group of highly rated athletes.

I think this is a good move. You can't count on most freshmen for 2 years. Search the portal and find what positions you need to fill.

Can you do a side by side comparing to overall ACC averages?

I take exception to Collins' assertion of a small senior class limiting the number of scholarships available.
We did have about 20 guys take part in senior day. Not all were on rides. But since then ...
Yates, Gibbs, Amerson, Wright, Peery, Ezzard (who bailed during the season), JaQuon Griffin, Jamal Camp, plus Juanyeh, Tobias and Mason, off the top of my head.
Seems like a lot of people leaving, Geoff (which is French for 9 wins in three seasons).
