Smaller class for Georgia Tech, Geoff Collins

13-22 avg ranking.png

Here is GT compared to every other ACC team with averages. At the bottom I also split the averages by 19-22 (CGC) and 13-18 (CPJ). The red numbers are all lower than GT's. The easiest tell is the split averages. From 19-22 our average puts us at 5th in the conferene. From 13-18 our average puts us at 11th. The ACC average is hard to judge by because of a few top heavy teams -- Clemson mainly, but the past few seasons Miami and UNC have helped, with FSU helping out up top before that.

From 13-18, we only recruited better than BC, Syracuse, and Wake. From 19-22 the only teams recruiting better than us are Clemson, FSU, Miami, and UNC. That's a fairly big jump.

EDIT: missed one that is below GT in 2018, Wake's number should be red.

Your spreadsheet made me color-blind. I can no longer see the color red.

My attorney will be contacting you.

Jesus Christ, can we stop talking about Paul ööööing Johnson already?
Probably not. Because as long as there are posters complaining about Johnson’s lack of ‘cruiting there are counterpoints to be made regarding Collins’s lack of coaching.

He competed for 2, winning one that got vacated and losing to Free Shoes in the other one.
He fell ass-backwards into one because Miami and UNC self-banned from playing that year.

He also got whipped by Duke with his.

We tied for 1st in 2012 in our division and were the only eligible team of the 3.

All of our appearances were one score games. That is competing for ACC Championships. Over CPJ tenor, only Clemson, FSU, and VT saw as many appearances.

What does that have to do with this thread?
Try to keep things on topic fool.

Anyways, I'm excited for the DT players, they will fit well in the next coaches system I'm sure.
If things head the way they're looking then I'm thankful he left the roster and branding better than he found it at the very least.

So I guess the million dollar question is why if our talent is so much better in recruiting than the CPJ era, why are we only winning three games a season.... When I look.... It appaers the issue is Defense... CTR had 40 & 50 ranked defensive FEI

Coach Collins

2019: 93
2020: 88
2021: 119

IMO, if you have a calling card, but you're no longer good at what your calling card is, then we have a problem. This is like if CPJ came in and our rushing offense was horrendous. The lack of Coaching the Boys up on defense isn't becuase Paul Johnson, the TO, or roster management.... It is becuase Coach Collins is a Crappy Coach and his vision it is not working .....

You'd be better served to compare Collins recruiting to Chan Gailey recruiting. You know, the era when we did not run a gimmick offense. Something tells me just running an offense that doesn't put kids in the league may hamper recruiting. Forgive my TO stereotypes.

Near impossible to compare current ratings/rankings to classes from Gailey’s era. Recruiting services weren’t anything like they are today in terms of staff and in some cases their methodology has changed.

For example the 2001 class on 247 lists one signee.

The 2003 class has our top 7 signees tied at .8333 and the next 6 tied at .8000.

The 2005 class has 12 of our 18 signees as 2 stars.

It’s not til 2007 that the numbers look anything resembling a modern class rating.

"Knock the on-field results all you want?" What the actual öööö, man??? Since when did ANYTHING but the on-field results matter??

"If we're solely looking at the athletes we're brining in"

And what kind of ööööing moron would do that? Did 247Sports or Rivals hand out trophies today and I missed it? Did the ACC announce the 2022 Conference Crooting Championship today?

Jesus, Jospeh and Mary, when did so many of you lose the damn plot?

Because that's not what this thread is about. Yeah, the in field results have been putrid, there are eleventy billion threads about that already. The thread was about the recruiting class.

I think this is a good move. You can't count on most freshmen for 2 years. Search the portal and find what positions you need to fill.
Yep. No reason to date a girl when you can just öööö a hooker

On class size: 85 divided by 5 is 17.

We have had two oversized classes due to recruiting mistakes that came before. And that directly went to our won-loss record.
