So? Do we have a football team again?

I don’t actually know our schedule. I just know we play a lot to ACC games

we won five games last year under last years circumstances. That was with goofball having his hand it for a significant portion of the season. 6 wins will be disappointing given our schedule
Also lost to UVA at home after winning games without Collins around. We really don't have a well defined view of what this team is going to be. Schedule also isn't the easiest in the world, road games at Wake, Miami and UVA (they suck sure, but that hasnt stopped them beating us in the past) along with ole miss, clemson and uga is a bunch of challenges. 6 wins could still objectively be a challenge for us, which could say to you that we're in a disappointing state in general, but may be where we're at.

Key took the pay cut to put a staff in place that will win. Six is the floor for expectations this year.

Lol. He’s not going to get 3 to 5 years. That’s the beauty of his contract. If he can’t turn it around fast, we can part ways with him.
How many years is his contract for? Or is performance part of his contract?

HC Brent Key has a five-year, $15 million contract.....Here’s what we need to know:

  • Key’s base salaries escalate from $2.8 million in 2023 to $3.2 million in 2027.
  • He “will work with the director of athletics” on staff decisions.
  • Key has standard bonuses for winning more than eight regular-season games (100K), New Year’s Six bowls and playoffs.
  • Coach key has been given a $7.5 million salary pool for his staff in 2023. That represents a nearly 32 percent increase over the 2022 budget of $5.7 million.

Key’s buyout also is 70 percent of the remaining deal before the end of year two (2024), 60 percent before year three, 50 percent before the end of years four and five. His $3 million contract average is below reported new deals of other FBS coaches, which have ranged from Luke Fickell’s seven-year, $54.6 million with Wisconsin to Scott Satterfield’s six-year, $22.5 million with Cincinnati.

The $3 million average annual value of Key’s contract is not only lower than most other deals signed by new college football coaches, but it’s also lower even than Collins’ $3.3 million. Key, a first-time head coach, not surprisingly received a deal lower in value than Satterfield’s in Cincinnati ( six year $22.5 million) and Jamey Chadwell’s at Liberty (reportedly seven years for $28 million).

Typing this so I can find it later. Key amount owed:

Fire before year 1: $10.5m
Fire before year 2: $8.5m
Fire before year 3: $5.6m
Fire before year 4: $3.8m
Fire before year 5: $1.6m
