So, Julian Burnett is going to start at LB this week

This is good. Burnett's better than anyone else we can put at that position right now, and Sweeting can't do any worse than has been being done at CB. Egbuniwe has speed off the edge and can rush the passer. He loses contain every so often, and over pursues at times, but he's fast and will force them to compensate. All this is good for our D getting pressure on Yates. From his film, Sweeting may be the best DB we've had since MB.

Claytor needed to play this week. It now puts the O back on the field that started against Miami and UGAG last year, that is, if Cox moves back into his old A-back slot. This is my final wish for this Saturday besides a win.

As of yesterday, ramblinwreck.com's depth chart has Kevin Cone not even in the 2 deep at WR. It's Hill backing up Bebe and on the other side, Tyler Melton or Zach Fisher. Reese is starting at wolf and Rashaad Reid is playing FS. That'll help in coverage, but we need to get pressure on the QB. I want to see LBs and the d line making tackles, not the dbs.

Yep, Melton's back. That's a good thing. He's a good blocker, too.

Reid needs to start at the other corner and Tarrant needs to be playing safety. That's entirely screwed up in my opinion. Reid is NOT a safety, he's a boundry cornerback all the way. Tarrant plays Corner like a safety. If I can see this, why can't Wommack??

I agree with this. Plus Reid spent some time working at the Wolf over the Summer. I don't like the idea of tossing Sweeting in the fire either. Wish he had a little more experience.

I think shaking it up is a great idea. If nothing else it will push the former starters to do better. If they have no competition they will just do enough to get by.

And I don't think they can be much worse...

Woohoo. Maybe my prediction of Burnett as the our freshman player of the year will come to fruition. So far he has been it, based on his Jax St. game. I am seeing good things come with him!

kind of...

He is not replacing a starter.

He is playing LB as we may go back to a 4-3 because we could have the starting Wolf and Free Safety out Saturday....Reese and Taylor.

Hopefully we at least get Reese back by Saturday.

Regardless....I would like to see more 4-3.

I'm sick of the WOLF. It scares noone.

Besides, everyone knows that the wolf is supposed to play hoops.

Maybe Hewitt could use him?

Yeah, I guess the WOLF can't play football but he sure as hell can fight, win, drink...!!!

I was actually talking about Claytor, Sweeting, and Egbuniwe.

Back to the original topic, I think this is an excellent decision. This is the first sign of life I have seen out of our defense since the 4th Qtr. of the Clemson game. Wommack is showing that he isn't stubborn and will do anything necessary to win by making this move. It's not easy as a DC to have to change your scheme. But he is doing it. I sure hope it helps.
